Over the weekend I fixed my steering wheel shake. Ontop of the usual 80+km/h vibrations my truck developed a pulsation in the brakes. Bought new rotors and pads, pulled it apart and found a stuck piston on the drivers caliper and obvious hard spots on the inner rotor surface, so I bought a set of re-man calipers as well. Before I put anything back together I knew the non-braking vibration would still be present so I checked everything over. Bearings, bushings, steering rack and column all fine, what I was overlooking was the hub surfaces, rust and dirt that the tire shop didn't bother to clean off and probably knocked loose when the wheels were last installed. Cleaned it up with a wire brush, torqued everything properly, all good now.

Just thought I would leave that here, hopefully it helps some people fix their vibes.

None yet, but sure to come!
I had the Michelin's on my 09, awesome tires. Great mix of on road comfort and light off road capability. They aren't going to turn any heads and I wouldnt go crawling with them, but moderate trail work is great. In other words, good purchase! :)

My shake returned after several months. I went to the Michelin dealer to have my front tires rebalanced, shake went away. They inflated my tires to 40psi which made ride harsh on less than smooth roads. I lowered my tires to 35psi, now shakes badly & you really feel it in the steering wheel. I'm at a loss. Michelin dealer doesn't want to see my truck anymore even though I bought the tires there. They are tired of rebalancing, road force balancing & rotating them over the past year or so. Should I just up the tires beck to 40psi? I've been dealing with this issue for 3 years. I've exhausted the dealer too.

for what its worth, i just had all 3 u-joints replaced on my prerunner with greaseable units and also replaced the carrier support bearing. my truck is driving so much smoother than before, probably since i bought the truck. i had the same shake. the reason for the repair was i had 1 u-joint that was really bad, the other 2 were fairly worn. i have a 3" lift. i know these things came come from several issues but mine seems to have been resolved. only time will tell if it comes back.

Do you have spacers? I just bought my 07' SR5 with 2" lift and Mud Terrains. I had the same issue, and couldnt figure it out, the tires were balanced and everything. so i took it in and they found that the spacers behind my tires were such that my rims were barely sitting on the mount... I took of the spacers and haven't had any shaking whatsoever.

Same problem with my truck since I bought it. For a year they told me it was tire weights that kept getting thrown then recently it started violently vibrating and I got the tires rotated and balanced and the problem continued. Then I took it to the dealership and had the front end (which was where I figured the problem was at) was way out of line and something had happened to the wheel bearings. Check it all but I'm thinking either wheel weights, alignment, or bearings.

Well, posted here before about my 55-65mph wheel shake. It first started after a tire rotation, when it wasn't there before. I had the wheels road-force balanced twice, still there. The manager blamed it on the aftermarket Black Rhino's being lug-centric as oppose to hub centric and said I needed hub-centric rings to fill the gap. Gap was 6mm (106 OE hub, 112 aftermarket ID hub fitment).

I put on the rings, still shakes just as bad. I've been living with the shake, in denial. Not sure what else to do.

probably have a bad tire. more then likely one of the fronts. it will help a lot to put both front tires in the back

my old tires had a shake at 60'ish rebalanced tons of times, lived with it.
got new tires last week, had a bad shake.
It was a defective tire (supposedly).
new tire rebalance and the shake was barely there.
I have to go back for an alignment after I fix my UCA bushing.

Could be. But I've had the tires on for about 10K miles. Why would they suddenly start to be off? Also, when they road force balance them, they balance up to spec. as any other tire/wheel should.

However, I did notice the shake after my last rotation. I'm coming up for another rotation soon. We'll see what happens after my fronts go to the back and vice versa.

Get the truck ROAD FORCE BALANCED at a Discount Tire. It must be that specific type of balancing and if he asks you whether you want the weights on the inside or the outside of the rim tell him the outside....they are more effective there.

I have the same problem from 60-70mph. The problem arose after the dealer did a tire rotation. I'm sitting in the tire shop right now waiting on my tires to be balanced. Hopefully this will fix it

I just bought my 2012 Tacoma Texas Edition 3 weeks ago. Been shaking since the day I drove it home. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow, hopefully a wheel balance will fix it.

EDIT: A balance job at the dealership seems to have fixed my issues, hopefully it lasts.

I have the same package too. I could feel shake in the steering wheel pretty bad too. Dealership has re-balanced wheels a few times, replaced a tire, and next week will be installing a new wheel. Turns out that one of the wheels is defective and took a lot of weight to get into balance.

Keeping a close eye on mine in case that needs to be done for me as well. I really like these wheels/tires.....it's really the main reason I bought this model over a TRD one.

Heard from dealer on the source of my vibrations and noise........
Time for a new driveshaft, isn't that special?

Guess the ATM's would have been a good tire afterall.
