Bent rims suck, but there is no true round rim as there is no true round tire. This why the Hunter 9700 balancer is so effective when balancing larger tires and rims. It literally (when used properly) measures the "high spot" in the rim and the "high spot" in the tire and marks them on the screen. The tire technician (if properly trained and not lazy) breaks the tire down and spins the tire on the rim to offset these "high spots". This causes a cancelling effect once these out of round spots are lined up correctly. The tire and rim are then balanced again to ensure the smoothest ride possible. The only thing left is to ensure the rim is centered on the hub with hub centric rings and the ET style lugnuts I recommended in an earlier post.
For the vibration between certain speeds, I would check the driveline angle and the U-joints. Tires can cause this, but I found on my recently purchased Prerunner I was having the same problem at certain speeds 45-55. Sure enough the U-joiunt at the very back is trashed. Picked up some Federal Mogul U joints ($25 a piece, heavy duty) and the vibration is virtually non-existant. Additionally, lifting a truck can create binding in your driveline angle. I recommend dropping the carrier bearing on the prerunner model ( not sure about the 4X4 setup). For the 6 inch lift on mine I added a 1 inch spacer on the carrier bearing. I recommend a half inch for every three inches of lift (suspension lift). This should keep the angles pretty close to stock. When you tighten the carrier bearing back up, make sure the driveshaft is lined up laterally (left to right) between the tranny and the rear end. You can buy these spacer kits premade or run down to Home Depot and get longer bolts and washers (get the stout bolts, grade 8 or better if doing it yourself). The washer method works well for mild lifts (1-2 inch), but for 3+, I 'd use the prefabbed. You can pick these up from toytec for a little over 10 bucks. No one thing suggested will fix your vibration problems, but I feel if you use a combo of these things, you can eliminate 99% of the vibration on your trucks and enjoy that comfy ride from the factory, even with a lift. Good luck friends!!

Just bought my 09 last month with 20,000 miles with stock Dunlop's. 60 mph + had a slight shake, brought back to Toyota, tires rebalanced, still shook, new Dunlops, still shook, new BF Goodwrich coming in this week. Better fix it! Truck is stock so far so not sure what is causing it. According to dealership, common problem and the Dunlops are suposedly the problem across the board. We'll see.

Just DUMPED my 09 Tacoma at a used car lot for this same problem that TOYOTA couldn't fix or wouldn't fix!!! I was not going to take any more of there BS and I figured I wasn't going to fight with Toyota anymore about this when MANY if not all TACOMAS have this problem!!! So I lost money and TOYOTA lost a customer for LIFE!!! And I tell everyone I know about this!!!!!!!!!!!

I had that proplem with a T100 and all it was, was the right side seaf springs had shifted causin the rear end to seesaw. But a shop told me that it was cuz the rear wheels were lockin up and the front was draggin them. My friend had a slightly similar problem and it was cuz his spare tire underneath was loose and rockin back and forwarth. just take the rear wheels off and make shure everything is tight.

    Same problem:

    09 Prerunner
    Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10 P265/75/16
    Konig Countersteer Offroad
    Gorilla spline nuts.
    Rear spring TSB done
Front 1/2 of the DS replaced

I was told the shake was because the footprint of the tire is much wider than stock, or some crapola.

    Advice?

I just switched out my OE Bridgestone summer tires, and put on my Michelin snows. Poof... vibration gone. With the 'stones on the truck, the slightest bit of gnat poop on a wheel or in a tread would make the truck act as if it had thrown a balance weight. The Michelins are covered in mud and snow, and still run the way they should. My verdict, for me at least, is the tires. The Bridgestones are sold, and a new set of real tires is going on in the spring. FWIW...

So I take the truck, turn it on, turn wheel all the way to one side and the rack should move by itself? Or does someone have to push pressure the opposite way you have the wheel turned?

Just bought a 2011 TX Pro and had the same problem between 60 and 70 mph. Took it in and the dealership ended up dismounting and remounting the tire. Now the problem is gone and the truck rides unbelievably smooth.

You could put tires craved from stone it it and never have this problem....I have flipped the truck over, rotated the cuffs, spanked the rear and lubed the tail pipe and....new tires and wheels, still rides like a little muffy mobile......I have never heard of suck issue from a big truck......some isolated but never like these.....

TOYOTA, put a real front end on these things.....

TOYOTA CUT the fender wells out to fit a BIGGER TIRE THEN, barbie mobile tires....

thank you, thank you very much
