    Will the stock JBL system ( speakers ) handle a small amp?

    the stock jbl speakers currently run off a amp, if you choose to bypass the stock amp completely you can run any amp. At that point you might as well R&R all stock speakers, should you choose to replace the amp you can;
    1. rerun new wires to all the speakers
    2. use the wires already in place but splice into the harness that plugs into the jbl stock amp
    hope that helps!

    You can add an amp but it must be after the jbl amp. I've done this. If you remove the jbl amp, you will get no sound.

    Bear is correct you tap into the harness shown with the connections it's the wires coming out the amp that carry the power to the speakers

    Thanks for the info. I checked out a you tube vid on Taco tunes. They have a plug and play system.

    Nice job! I'll be starting this same project here pretty soon and your post will be very helpful. Were you able to relocate the jbl amp workout having to extend the stock wiring? I plan to relocate, hopefully, inside the cubby under the seat (bottle jack area).

    after all the wires here and there i actually just unclipped and untapped enough wire lead to move the stock jbl amp between the two seat (rear fold) just below were i have the sub amp. its not secured other then by wire harness. i havent had any issues thus far but do plan on moving it to the cubby location also. hope this helps out. :thumbsup:

    Why do you have to place aftermarket amp after the JBL one, is there no way you can just completely do away with the JBL amp but still keep the head unit?

    It's a intergrated system. Without the stock jbl amp, the stock hu won't power on.

    So would I mess anything up just giving in and replacing both the amp and the HU?

    I intend to sum the Fronts/Tweeters/Sub in the Main CH of an LC6i and run the 4-Sub wires in Ch.3, but I'm not sure exactly what wires I need to splice into and run to the LOC...I have a ‘13 JBL wiring diagram but photos would help because the diagram doesn't seem to correspond exactly to what I'm seeing in the pics I've found. The diagram seems out of order.....

    Also in messing with my stock JBL amp, I noticed the bottom-most 4-wire harness seems to be the SUB OUTPUT, but I see in others photos that they spliced out of the top two wire harnesses....So confused..

    Hey man so I have 2015 tacoma with the same JBL package and I did what you did with the LOC but Now My mids and High are playing the same frequencies as my sub and I was wondering if You had the same problem? did you have to get an crossover to take the low frequencies out of the mids and Highs?
