Yeah, it's touch and go. I do a lot of unmaintained/eroded fire roads and stuff but nothing too intense. There are a few very narrow trails I take to some kayaking spots that include some minor creek crossings and wet rocky terrain where I do need a spotter in a few spots but still nothing "intense" and clearly I've been able to get in and out of anything I've done with the stock ORs they just slip a bit more.

I am in similar tire situation, waiting for stock Wranglers to wear out. When they do, I'll be going to 265/75R16 Falcon Wildpeak A/T3W.

Honestly, I don't see a need to go A/T in your case. They're heavier, will handle worse, MPG will suffer, and cost more. I don't see much of an upside.

I'm on the stockers as well. They made it through the winter just fine and does well on mild trails I've taken them on.

I've got 10k on my AT3W's and love them. Quiet as stock, lightweight, and my gas mileage was absolutely not affected by them. I offroad most weekends, nothing too severe, but these tires have been pretty good in everything I have thrown at them. Mud, snow, towing, whatever.
I did go to a 17" rim though, 4runner pros, I can't imagine the 16" tires weigh too much differently.

thanks, bud. they work great for me. on highway and off. typically shitty fire roads, but occasionally have to make my own roads for work. i found these like to be inflated a little higher, i think i'm running 37F/34R right now.

I just haven't seen this to be the case. Besides, the truck already comes with A/T tires, just sad looking ones. People putting C rated tires on a Tacoma surely would experience what you said though.

Stock tires are P-rated passenger tires. They used to put the same thing on older Tacoma's (I had BFG Rugged Trails on my 1st Gen. GY's are better, though). I should have specified "LT" all-terrain tires, as I assumed that was already implied. Putting actual A/T LT tires will decrease the on-road performance.
