Looking into tinting my front windows and was going to try and match the rear. Does anyone know what the stock tint percentage is on the rear windows on a 2016.

I put 20% on my front side windows and it matches pretty darn well. As a matter of fact, can't tell a difference at all. So I'd say its close to 20%

15% Is what I was told it was by the tint company that did mine. Had the fronts tinted to match.

Stock is about 24-27%. I metered it.

20% is the best closest match to factory tint.

Stock tint on the back is 28%. The glass is smoked from the factory, it's not an actual film.

Thanks for the responses. 35% up front is legal in my state. Just need to decide if I want to stay legal.

If you do 35 % you may as well not do it.

I had my tint guy effectively go 5% all around, which is actually 20% added to the rear factory tint and a full 5% limo tint film up front. Also did a sun visor strip.

Why is that? If stock is 28%, 35 isn't too far off. Was already pulled over for a 20% tint on my last vehicle.

Depends on the reason your tinting really. If for mainly privacy, 35% tint provides very little extra privacy over not tinting at all. And it does nothing for aesthetics imo. It will block out uv rays and heat transfer though making the interior a tad more comfortable.

in GA its 32-35 Legal. I usually do my vehicles at 20%... A friend of mine has 5% all around, cant see shit in or out, and even worse at night of course. I also have a friend that did 50% on his windshield, also hard to see out of at night in the mountains. I dont recommend anyone ever going below 20%. But hey if you want the cops bothering you in 99% of the states by all means go 5%.

My impression, anything less than 20% (meaning anything with more light transmission than 20%) is a waste. It looks substantially similar to non tinted windows, and does little to promote privacy.

I really dislike others with tint so dark I can't see the driver. Usually it's illegal anyway.

But I can't tell which way the driver is looking, which often allows proper anticipation of their next move. Like you know they see you. Or not.

    That's when I'm riding a bike.

While I don't like it much when I'm in a vehicle either, at least I'm somewhat protected.

35% front and 20% rear is the perfect balance. Here's 35 front and 15 rear, IIRC.

    Here's 35% front and 5% rear.

Guy who did my front does police vehicles for the county. He put the meter on my factory rear windows, 22.4%. I went with 20%. In the sun, you can tell it is slightly darker than the rear, but I may get the rear done(factory "tint" is dyed glass, not film) darker probably with 5%.

No it's not. Paired with a darker back it looks great. Enough to not impede the vision while driving yet not feel like you're sitting in a fishbowl.

EDIT: 35% all around looks silly though. That's how my car came (bought it preowned) but pulled off the rear tint and replaced it for 15-20% (can't remember) and now it's perfect.
