It's darker, but it doesn't bother me. I took a picture from the inside to give a gauge about how much darker than the stock rear. Picture is pretty accurate to how it actually appears. 20180421_131823.jpg

Perfect! Obviously tint will make it darker at night but was just interested in the safety aspect of it. Looks

quarter size bubbles, really? a week after installation you SHOULD NOT see anything remotely like that. not sure where you are located, but unless its the frozen tundra, 5 days is plenty of time of your film to cure. you should never see quarter size bubbles period unless they let a 3 year old try to squeegee the tint. it is normal to see bubbles form as the tint cures, but not any bigger than say a pencil eraser. just make sure you don't mash down on them, you will push air into them at this point and make one hell of a mess and they will definitely need to replace it. but sounds like they may need to do that anyway.

I love all the haters of 35% film, it cracks me up. I actually have 45% film on my Taco front doors and with the slight factory tint it gauges at around 34-35%. but I bet I feel less heat coming thru mine than you guys do that have 20/15/5% unless you went with ceramic tint. I, like many of you used to swear I would never have "legal" tint, but a couple years back I blew thru 3 stop signs on some dark back roads one night because I couldn't see. almost got side swiped by another truck. the very next day I got to work and stripped my windshield and all the doors, tinted the front doors legal the back doors 70% over the privacy glass and the windshield 70%. haven't had a problem since. eyesight goes with age guys, I turned 44 today and at night I admit, looking thru dark film strains my eyes something horrible.

My truck spent most of it's time in my garage after they did it. First nice day I had it parked at work, to my surprise, they all disappeared. I never touched the bubbles or rolled the windows down.

Hey guys, I have the stock window tint on my 05 tacoma and it gets very hot basically any time of year. Its ridiculous and I never seem to be able to cool down my truck. I plan on tinting my windows in a couple weeks but I wasn't sure on how dark is too dark. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don’t want limo tint, but I don’t think the legal limit is going to cut it. I live in Tennessee and it’s brutal in the summer. Btw I am also a new member to tacomaworld and am still trying to figure everything out!

Okay thanks for the input. I’ll look into that.

legal tint is more than enough to cool your vehicle, if you use ceramic or nano-ceramic film. otherwise, even with the darker films, you are paying for the look of tint. if you use a dyed/metalized color stable film, it won't reject near the heat as what a ceramic film will. also, consider doing your whole windshield in a light percentage such as 70 or 80%. again, use ceramic film and the heat rejection will be what you are hoping for.

I won't tint any of my own vehicles with anything other than a full ceramic or nano-ceramic film. I have been using those types of film since 2009, and never had any problems or complaints. you won't be sorry. drive it down to NC and I will tint it for you, even give ya a great deal. we come up to TN to ride mountain bikes quite a bit at Windrock Bike Park, and you are right, TN gets hot in the summer.

Put in a ceramic 18%. Looks a near perfect match.
Think the back looks darker in the second image cause it’s dirtier, definitely not that different.
