Yeah I would love for more people to open up to this. It looks great and fills up the fender well excellently.

@Sandy Taco , thanks for your posts! I have a TRD OR and all the previous posts were TRD Pros that had fitted 255/85r16; however, the OR and Pros have different wheels. With your pictures I'm confidently going to get a set of 255/85/16s. I'm torn between coopers, dick cepeks, maxxis big horns, BFG KM2s, super swamper TRXUS, and Toyos. Toyos are so expensive.

Yeah, I actually have about a 2" lift with Icon coilovers but I don't think 285/75/16's on stock wheels would work?
    255/85 I know would!

You'd have to cmc, and hammer the pinch weld back to fit 285, but that still looks awesome!

How do you like them after running them for a few months? I have the same truck. Just put some steps on and it looks weird now

these are stock tires. I put the steps on and now the truck looks to low. So either steps come off, or bigger tires.

I'd go the with 255s, per the tire calculator you should increase an 1" in height roughly. Or you can do both - remove steps and add the tires. The steps just mess up my pants when it gets dirty. Have them on the 15 4Runner TRD Pro, not adding them on the 17 Taco Pro.

I'm thinking 285 75 16. What do you think? And steps have to go.

I'd ditch the steps - and go with 255s - but that's a personal choice. Your call in the end.

I wish they made a 265 equivalent to the 255's just for a little extra width. Just my opinion

so the 285 75 16 is just a bit shorter and a bit wider..... does that sound right? On the 255, they seem really narrow- I wish it was a little wider

Are you guys saying that the 255's fit better with no rub due to the narrow width?

Yes, that is the exact reason why this thread prefers 255. If you had other tires of the same diameter but wider, they end up rubbing.
