    Hey guys,
My shipmate got his silver tailgate stolen off his tacoma yesterday, at the Lakeville Park and Ride in Petaluma. If this helps there were no decals on it and has a big green scuffmark on the bedside. Just a heads up for the Petaluma area. Secure your tailgates! Thanks!

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Yes, that's an easy grab part they can get quick cash for at a scrap yard. Those "Meth Heads", geez!

You can get a tailgate lock that replaces the handle, like the Pop&Lock part#5300, can be found for around $40

Or, for less money, try the McGard 76029 Tailgate Lock, around $15

Both work pretty well but both can easily be defeated with a tool, say a prybar or large screwdriver. And even if they can't get the tailgate off it ends up being pretty scraped up from the failed effort.

    Bummer on the tailgate.

Theres all so easy cheap fixes like a water hose clams like this below for under $5 dollars some have a key that detaches. They would have to struggle before someone actually saw them try to take your tailgate.

Thanks! I feel bad I didn't pass that info to him before he got his tailgate stolen. Got my tailgate hose clamped the day I bought my truck.

I bought a house clamp for 49 cents right after I bought my truck. I also wrapped some tape around it. I have a pop and lock to but I dont always lock it.

Man that sucks. I have the hose clamp as well on both sides of the tailgate. There is a washer mod that you can stick bigger washers in where the sides pull out on the tail gate. The bigger washers doesn't let the tailgate release from the supports.

You should at least offer your tail gate to him since you didn't share the hose clamp mod.
