My hard cover stays on all year. I hate when my bed bets dirty. When the snow is piled on it, I sweep it off.

I had 3 car seats in my double cab. 2 have been swapped out to boosters. Can't speak to the access cab though

Bone stock except bungee cords and husky liners!
I haven't had a lot of snow but did have a few afternoons with snow on the cover but it was no problem. Backflip mx4 which can fold straight up along the cab if needed. The cover can also support 400 pounds of weight of spread evenly.

I have a similar truck, an Inferno Sport, also with the MX4 (short bed though). I've run bak industries tonneau's on the past 3 trucks I've had. They really are top notch IMO. They aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for. As you mentioned, this cover can be opened so the bed is fully accessible, unlike the factory cover. In fact, I specifically ordered my Sport without the factory tonneau for that reason. Also, the MX4 is much lighter than the factory cover.

I've had 2-3 feet of snow on my soft tonneau I had on my 2G. No problems at all.
