Hi guys, like the title says.

I was filling up my washer fluid tank today and notice its just a big ole hole. Am I missing a strainer?

I ask because all my other toyotas have a removable strainer under the reservoir filler neck to catch any potential debris.

    Can anyone check please?

    Thanks!

Toyota gave up on those, no one uses dirty water or old washer fluid anymore. The strainers were being removed to fill the containers anyway.

No modern Toyota uses this anymore. The corolla/matrix was the last.

    Interesting.
Those are all american or mexican manufacture.
All my other toyotas are japanese. All have the strainer. I always end up removing it since it makes the fill up slow.

    Thanks for the confirmation!

The strainer slows down the flow. Find a car with one and remove it. When you fill it up it will burp back up all over the place. Big spouts dont need one.

Thanks for all the responses guys. The newest other toyota in the house is a 2006 LX470. That one has a strainer. The taco is my first brand new toyota. I only use distilled water and rainx additive in my washer fluid tank so no concerns with dirt and live in south FL so no concerns of it freezing either..

I used to do the same with the distilled water and rain-x additive but found that if you use all the fluid in the reservoir without refilling, it will have a oily film towards the end and it is a bitch to get off the glass. I now use the green rain-x washer fluid in a gallon jug that sells for a couple dollars at Walmart and i find that is much better. Doesnt leave an oily film and doesnt leave any water spots also. Just dont use the orange one. I have read that it has damaged sensors in the reservoirs of cars that have them. I dont think our trucks do so not so much a problem, but it will on my wifes NX.

Nope. 5th gen 4Runner is made in Tahara Japan plant. No current model 4Runner has strainer.
