So today the dinging that indicates that you've left your keys in the ignition in your 2005 trd started going off when I open the door to exit but the keys were in my hand. I tried several configurations of locking & unlocking doors, starting & turning off the engine, opening & closing doors & I even made sure the lights were off (even though that doesn't give a warning ding).
    Has anyone ever experienced this?

:) You may try disconnecting the negative cable for a few seconds to reset the computer. If the dinging goes away, just chalk it up to a stuck relay or switch. If the dinging does not go away, then you may need to open your steering column and look at the ignition switch and see if something is broken on the switch. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Might be that some little doo-hickey in the ignition key mechanism sticks and thinks the keys are still in. Hmmm.......have you been using the ignition key to scratch in your ears? Might try a lock spray on the key and insert and pull it out of the ignition a few times.
