Well i brought my 06 in to a dealership today for an oil change. about an hour and a half later i left and went to run errands. after about an hour my truck started making strange noises. when i accelerated there would be a squeeking, metal scraping, ticking noise from the drivetrain, the squeek squeek squeek would get faster as i went faster but stopped when i pressed the clutch. once i shifted it would start again- slow at first then faster which makes me think its trans not driveshaft. im taking it back in tomorrow any advice will help

checked the oil, looked at underneath of truck everything looks fine. they did say they topped off all my fluids so that might have had something to do with it.

currently having this issue as well. After reading through these posts: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/58278-tsb-t-o-bearing-issue.html, I took it in to the dealership. Bottom line: throwout bearing is steel and pilot shaft is made of aluminum (bad combo since aluminum can't stand up to steel for long periods of consistent contact). t/o bearing grinds into pilot shaft with each revolution, wobbling, which creates the chirping noise. Trick is the dealership has to be able to replicate issue (chirping noise), and won't just take your word for it - and this is only if you have a warranty. Toyota was *supposed* to have a newly redesigned pilot shaft by FEB 10, but don't know if that pulled through. I'm as frustrated as everyone else. I'll let ya know how the inspection/repair turns out

Well, the "repair" didn't hold up. I'm heading back in for my 3rd fix of TOB issue. I'm buying the URD trans sleeve kit and a better clutch.

700 miles in and URD sleeve kit is holding up nicely. I know that doesn't mean shit in terms of TOB issue, but thought I would drop a line....I'll be keeping tabs on this one, no doubt.
