Mine flexed just off the bumper to roofrack a lot, you could see the driver side is dropping a bit but when I was cruising it never was “that” lose form the stretching. Just enough on the highway you could see it was moving but not much, I need to redo it though because one of the caps weren’t on well and I knocked it off

I think the flex will be much more pronounced from the camper though , as it is separate from the body and the whole chassis will flex. I may need some stretch in the system.

So, the trails up here are so overgrown that I’m having a problem with foliage getting wedged between the awning and the camper and tweaked the awning and brackets.

    2D94A1C6-9181-4353-8189-7FD3B45E5E24.jpg

So the risers will feed the brush mostly up and over. I still haven’t figured out how to run the last leg out to the awning.

Ah! Very good. I've seen that on some Aussie rigs. We've caught a few there ourselves

I worked on the final anchor for the limb risers today. I pulled apart the end cap of the awning to see if I could anchor to that, but decided that I didn’t want to risk breaking it. So for now I’m trying an extended bracket off the forward awning mount. Now I was planning on adding two more bolts to said mount but discovered it must be hardened steel because there was no drilling this thing.

Anyway , I’m happy how this turned out. We’ll see if it holds up and does it’s job.

Tiled the back wall with some vinyl self adhesive tile, for a splash of color.

First trip with the limb risers. Didn’t get to test them out on foliage, but did some off the paved roads. I think there is just too much flex in the chassis and I really need to come up with some sort of shock grommets or in-line shock absorbers that will allow for high tension , but not overload the camper with downward force. Another spot that needs attention is beefing up the anchors. Maybe an extra bracket under the hood.

Did you paint the fold down bedsides for the Ute Tray? Or were you able to order them in black? I'm looking into upgrading to a Ute Tray as soon as I can get my hands on an Aussie canopy to replace my camper shell.

I have been otherwise preoccupied lately, and haven’t been updating the build log! I have been slowly working on new truck projects, on the yard, marriage, health etc.

    Let’s try and catch up.

    6A5AF341-CE7C-44E0-ACF5-9E955A6BE031.jpg

I finally got the drive done , so I don’t have to use 4WD to get out of the garage. Standart Park with grass. Looks and works great. Also fabricated some aluminum housing for the rear lights to replace the rusting steel ones.

I finally got the 2low installed.

A project that involves removing large chunks of the dash allows seems a little intimidating as I hate breaking clips. Mostly it turned out to be no problem. There are three clips on the top of the airbag panel that require some poking with a small screwdriver. Nothing broke! Yay

While I was in there I noticed what looked like mold on the fan blades. I made a half arsed attempt at trying to get it out to clean, but ended up wiping down each individual blade with a Q-tip and 10% bleach. There goes another hour of my life!

    23DE466D-24A0-4D8A-AF69-CCED78C83629.jpg

Replaced the cabin filter with a carbon one.

    8FC21033-1122-49DC-B07B-B71FE98B12A0.jpg

Cleaned everything while it was out.

Here’s the new switch filling the last blank in the center console. While I had it all open I replaced the red volt meter with a blue one that includes two 3amp usb chargers. The red really wasn’t going with the esthetic. Yeah it’s little things like that that can drive me nuts!

Notice the air horn switch :muscleflexing:
