    Is the TRD hook better than this type if hook? Part #WAR13230. Also, this hook installs with the hook facing up. The TRD hook is sideways. I just finished turning down an offer of $55 for a TRD hook shipped to me in Miami but now I see they are different angles. Please explain if the TRD hook is that much better and I'll go for it! Sorry but this is new to me.
    Thanks!

    In my opinion, the TRD hook is superior.

    This is the Warn hook you looked at?

    As far as I know that is a generic part and doesn't line up with the holes on the Tacoma frame. You likely will have to drill new holes.

    I got a generic hook similar to the warn and it lined up. You just need longer bolts. But in any case i would still spend more money on the trd hook

    and the actual part is this one...
    http://www.4wheelparts.com/Winches-...8&t_s=190&t_pt=4007&t_pl=102426&t_pn=TOW63030

    only got it because it was cheap, temporary, and if i needed to use my snatch block, I needed some where to attach my winch line. I ordered the TRD OR hook from a member on here, I like the TRD one better because it is horizontal instead of vertical, it has little nubs at the end of the hook to help hold on the tow strap or whatever, and its OEM. Plus the horizontal orientation of the OEM hook wont interfere as much as the vertical one I have on there now. I know the hook is beefy, but it sticks out more than the OEM one, and I just wouldnt want to snag it on something.

    ...and it cant mount facing up because of the stone guard on my ARB bumper. Some hooks come with a little retainer strap piece of metal, which would help, or just keep tension on your line, or rig something to keep it from falling until its under load.

    Do they make an OEM TRD Hook one for the Driver side also?

    No. I read somewhere that the drivers side is just there for when the vehicle is being transported, it can be secured to the truck that's carrying it. I don't know if ghat's entirely accurate.

    I've pull a few thing with the driver side loop... but I was wondering if the TDR hook was also able to be mounted on the driver side....

    I'll take a closer look at the hook today. I'll see if it can bolt up to the drivers side.

    That is correct- it may look "solid" being welded in place, and many guys have used it as a recovery point with no issues, but the manual states in an emergency situation use the Towing eyelet-(non TRD) or the Towing hook on the Off Road packgage located on the passenger side. :cool:

    I opened up the factory hanger enough to fit in a 3/4 Shackle;
    [IMG]

    it will do in an emergency but I'm searching for the Off road hook in the meantime.
