Mine was stuck the first time I tried. I stuck a rod through the loop and pried it loose. It's still a very tight fit but better than it was.

This is all I have as far as grease. Would this work to lube the o-ring?

I had a dipstick O-ring stick on a vehicle some time ago. Once I finally got it out I just rubbed a bit of oil off the end of the dipstick onto the o-ring and have never had problems since.

I've never heard of this . Just hard to imagine a dip stick O-ring putting up such a fight . Live and learn .

Was kinda fun to see the Stungun post ...

So I ordered an Oring from McMaster. I ordered an 8" OD instead of a 8mm :D:rofl::frusty:

Side note, red rubber grease seems to help a lot.

Huh, thought I was the only person with this issue. Last factory service (20k) they said my dipstick was stuck, so they ordered a new one (tube and dipstick)

Mine was seized up too. The oil dip stick tube let’s moisture in right above where the o-ring seals. It somehow locks the o-ring from sliding out so your dip stick becomes stuck. Once you get it out it won’t go back in, and I’m not about to sand away at it and let all of the dust get into the oil.

It pissed me off so bad I went and brought a brand new dip stick tube for $18 at the dealer and spent 2 hours trying to remove it. They are pressed into the block really well plus leverage is horrible from the limited amount of space you have to reach it through the wheel well

Dang man, brutal! You could've pressurized the crankcase, so whatever u sanded would blow out through the dipstick tube.

I might start pulling mine ever fillup like I should be anyways to check oil levels. I got used to having to do that on my old saturn sl2, but then stopped when I got better cars.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Used to have the same problem. Now I put a dab of new oil on the o-ring at every oil change. Beats having to buy a special grease just for that purpose.

I constantly have issues with the customer's dipstick getting stuck going in, never out.

You drive more a week than I do a month. I put on maybe 300 miles a month. But I work from home so the only place I drive to is the lake for fishing, and thats only 5 miles away.
