Got stuck yesterday in a mud hole. Nearly made it through until the rear diff got hung-up.. and yes, have done the rear diff breather mod.

Fortunately this one wasn't too bad at all, nearly made it all the way through and up the other side, just too much friction on the rear diff and not enough on the front tires in the last couple feet coming up out of the hole.

First time my wife went with me.... wanted to make sure she to got the full experience of course!

Did u go through the area that was closed last time? I took the prerunner through a little bit of that, saw a lake and turned around.

No stuckage but the mud was no joke, truck is quite dirty since i had to throttle through a few ruts, truetrac is greatness.

Glad to hear the truetrac was a success for you! We pretty much toured all of the park, I can't remember what was closed off last time we where there. I did stay off of those steps and that big hill (wife was not interested once she saw how steep it was).

Looks like you got muddier than I did! Any of yall get stuck at all and was it muddy? It was pretty dry for us (except for that hole I found... always seem to find a way to get stuck)

    Like, so many.
Under what conditions is the diff breather mod necessary?

If you ever submerge your rear diff in water I.e. water crossings.

Your diff breather allows air in to your rear differential due to expansion/contraction from temperature changes. If you are driving around for a while and your rear diff is up to operating temp, then you suddenly cool it (like submerging it in water), the breather will allow air to get into the diff due to pressure. The breather in the stock location is on top of the rear diff. Theoretically, when you submerge it and the diff cools quickly, the breather could allow water into the diff. I'm sure there are others who could explain it better, but that's the jist... It's a really cheap and easy mod to do. FYI the breathers for the front diff and trans case are located in the engine compartment so they aren't in harms way.

Edit: I see you have a 3rd gen, I'm pretty sure the diff breather is still on top of the rear diff like 2nd gens, but I'm not 100% on that.

A little ding in his rear door and tweaked his bumper a bit. I don't have any but he has some pics on his build thread.
