I have a 17 off-road with 3000miles. Just started yesterday when I take off from being stopped it stutters a couple times then takes off. Help? It's like the gas gets cut off a couple times then goes. Blah. Thanks.

A/T? Hows the idle? Check the air intake hose--some have noted that it was loose from factory.

Happened to my 17 DCOR. It's the restriction of the intake. I swapped it out with a K&N CAI and the acceleration smoothed out.

Automatic and I also wanted to add that it only does it when lay on the gas. I wouldn't know where the air intake is. Any pictures?

That is absolutely not true. Putting a CAI on the OP's vehicle has a 0% chance of solving his issue. In fact the factory oil on a K&N filter can coat the MAF element and mess up the fuel metering. You should remove the oil with Tide washing detergent, and rinse.

If this occurs when you immediately smash the pedal to the floor, then The studded is a result of a safety mechanism, where the code does multiple checks to assure that it was not a failing pedal control and hence will help you avoid an unintended acceleration event. Toyota is careful about this after the fiasco they had before.

This also might be another issue I'm having. Is it only in first gear? Under firm acceleration? Truck shakes for a few seconds and then goes away?

Please describe. Is this a driveline vibration you are feeling, or a studder acceleration issue?

A studder with the engine when accelerating. Push the gas it goes then immediately it looses power, goes again, looses power and then finally goes. When I say looses power I mean gas power. Not electrical. Or you could use the word cuts out.

Common complaint. Mine does the same. Nothing like pulling out into a tight window in traffic, Goosing the accelerator and the engine feels like it's going to die halfway into the intersection.:eek::eek: SUPER aggravating

No lights for me. 3/4 throttle maybe. Close to flooring it...but you pretty much have to in order to get this pig running.

Push the gas, or smash the pedal to the floor, at an almost immediate rate?

I've had this happen a couple times too, but never when ECT is on. Now I only drive with ECT on and its habit to press both the start button and ECT button when I start up the truck.

Yup, my 17 DCOR does the same. I almost got smashed the other day pulling out of my street to. I mashed the pedal and got NOTHING! I had to quickly let off and tap the pedal less aggressively. Only had a spoilt second to spare. Awful!!!!

Could have been the fact that the intake clamps were too loose from factory. There are threads about issue in this forum. Installing the intake (or any intake for that matter) properly is what could have fixed your problem.
