sub cone hitting back seat

i got the 13tw5 and a marv enclosure and the sub is hitting the back seat when turned up at a certain point. everything is bolted in tight. and it is bolted against the back board. the only solution i can think of is cutting away the black plastic and allowing the sub to hit the cushion. anyone else?

 

That would be the best solution. Once the cover is removed I doubt it will hit the cushion. The cover adds about 1" to the back of the seat.

 

dont cut the black cover just take it off. its what i did

 

Or you can cut it out like I did.

 

arent u afraid of your cone hitting the rest of the steel or plastic back there? or is it clear cause this 13 pumps hard and im worred about how far it pushes out

 

No it's fine...Once the seat is folded up it creates more room than you would think. Just test it out. Lay down the opposite side of the seat and you can look thru to see if it's hitting.

Yeah, you should be able to hear it if it's hitting. But there will be enough room to look thru and see too. Bring a flashlight.

i took off the back piece. and im afraid the cone will hit the springs going across?

 

This is what you need to do. Take the sub and box out of the truck. Then trace around the sub with a marker to get an outline. Then remove the sub. Using a fixed base router route out about a 1/4 or 1/3" of the wood in the area contained by the tracing. Bolt the sub back in. Play music and be merry

 

i actually just took off the black piece and i turned the truck up to about 40. on bass 0 and it sounds fine.

 

Glad it worked out great. It sounds good inside and outside.
