I have a setting on my stereo that has two sub settings. I think one turns up sub while driving or something. Anyhow I have not changed it. Maybe that will help.

i believe i hooked it up neg to pos neg to pos then back to my amp cause its dual voice coil. And in component cables would not work unless it was on the front or rear settings it wouldnt work on the sub settings for some reason.

but on my deck i cant even touch the sub settings for some reason

It might not have worked because you don't have the RCA subwoofer channel on. Most decks allow you to turn the sub off and on so it may be set to off.

That model is limited on sound rca's. If your running a 4 channel amp with RCA the the sub can not be ran. There is a switch in the setup audio menu that allows you to turn the "rear" RCA to sub. You don't get front rear and sub on that unit! That's the reason I went from 5140-8120. I know this is kinda late on the reply but I'm bored at work and going through the pages.
