I am guessing since you dont want to remove the backseats, you are also opposed to doing a blow-through?

Build a sealed 2 cubic foot fiberglass enclosure & drop in a pair of SD12s on 500W each. Not sure you're gonna get any better than that. It'll sound great too if you do it right.

What would be the best shallow 12 that is affordable I don't want to spend over $200 on one sub

I have the jbl shallow 10 inch and it sounds great. Might not be the best in the world, but for under $100 its certainly the best i've listened to in that price point (except the old polk audio ex2 subwoofers)

But they offer a 12 inch version too.

IMO going with something from *********.com will meet your requirements of really loud bass without removing the seats. I just recently upgraded from a JL Audio 10" stealthbox, to a single 12" ported setup from *********.com. The bass output is incredible and it fits behind the rear seats (with ALL the plastic removed). Exactly what I was wanting.

Old setup - JL Audio sealed 10" stealthbox with JL Audio RD500/1D:
    IMG_0875 (1).jpg

New setup - older gen ********* 12" ported box with an Image Dynamics IDQ12D2 sub wired in parallel to 1 Ohm (rated at 750W RMS). Being driven by an old Precision Power Black Ice 2600.1D rated at 1300W RMS at 1 Ohm (gain set low to not overdrive the ID sub):
    tacotune box.jpg

Pic is before I put the rear seatbacks back in. They go back in fine, but you are no longer able to fold them down all the way.

I just helped a friend this weekend install a complete stereo setup in his 2015 double cab Taco. For his low end he got the newest version 12" ported box from ********* with an IDQ12D4 sub. Wired his sub in parallel (2 Ohms) and have a JL Audio JX1000/1D driving it at 1000W RMS. Pretty much hits just as hard as mine. With this setup you will have more then just your rearview mirror shaking. The rear glass flexes if you really push it!:p

Yeah, better in every respect with the exception of a slightly lower sensitivity in the SD. But the SD can handle more power. Talking about the 10TW3 vs the 10SD4 to be clear.

By better I mean, they will play louder in the same airspace and with less distortion...although the SD may be a little deeper in regards to fit.

Maybe use WinISD or some other modeling program and compare both to see what looks better to you. Or if someone hasn't done it by this weekend, remind me and I'll try to model them.

That is difficult to quantify, but the JL is a very well-built driver with many happy owners. I have never heard a single complaint about them and would not hesitate to own one. I do however have a complaint about my SD3. When it's cold (below freezing), the suspension freezes up and the sub doesn't really play until it has warmed up...several minutes. I was not too happy about Sundown's responses to my inquiries about fixing it. The last time I talked to them, they suggested I send them a video...of my sub not moving o_O. I kinda gave up as I was replacing it with an SA anyway, but after trying twice that's as far as I got.

Thats pretty normal, Ive had subwoofers since 1999 in my cars, I live in MN and every single one has played at low volume till the spider and surround warm up enough to move free. Cold causes things that are supposed to flex to not flex so well. Rubber surrounds are the worse for this, foam has less of a issue from my experience.

The only sub that I have had that didnt have this issue was a 15 inch rockford hx2, but I think that was just the size and power of that sub

Here is a list of subs I have had over the years

    polk audio ex2
    infinity kappa
    infinity perfect
    infinity beta
    jbl gtx
    jbl gti
    rockford punch
    rockford power dvc
    rockford he
    rockford he2
    rockford hx2
    focal poly kevlar 27k
    jbl ws shallow
    earthquake piston
    ppi piston
    nakamichi (forget the model)
    boston pro
    jl w0
    jl w3
    jl w6
    cerwin vega w surround
cerwin vega classics (silver basket, red surround (the ones vanilla ice raps about))
    alpine type r
    alpine type s
clarion 32 inch (never actually installed in my car as it was too big)

and a bunch more that I cant remember.

2 12s as its more surface area, but 3 8s ported will sound better.

I've had a few too and it's the only one that's ever done that. It is my favorite slim SQ sub though despite that flaw. I only took it out 'cause I wanted more extension and had the space to do it.

Please dont be that guy who is blasting bass in a residential... it doesnt make you look cool, people dont care that you have giant subs, 98% of people will think your a d-bag, 1% will see you as a new target for theft, and 1% will think its cool.
