Hey everyone, looking for some input here. My 2013 Access cab has been great and trouble free for years but just yesterday developed a big issue after a weekend of camping.

The passenger door hinge feels off, almost like its not hitting the normal notches when it’s open and needs more pressure to close when it should, almost feels like something is rubbing but it’s not.

This also goes along with the passenger window not being able to roll down past half way, almost like it’s getting stuck inside the door. Above half it has no issues.

There’s so visible damage of the door and the latch works perfectly. Not sure how this could have happened but just looking for a solution! Thanks!

Door check and front window track. Door check gets bent, interferes with the window track, bends window track. Order an OEM of both and replace.

You do not need to take the window out like is suggested often with this replacement. Best course of action is to remove the speaker and bring the track out through the bottom.

You will not be able to see if the door check is ok from the outside it literally has to be bent an 1/8th inch before it interferes. dumb design.

This could absolutely damage a door check. Gotta pull it out and look. Hope the door frame metal isn't torn

I had the exact same problem with my 2008. Where the door check bolts to the thin metal on the door, the thin metal ripped, allowing the door to open too far. Once the door opened too far, the check bent the window track so it would only roll down half way or so.

I fixed by removing the plastic door panel, took off the window track, bent it back (by removing the opposite door’s window track and comparing the two until it was bent back correctly), and replacing the door check. Come to find out, my door check had seized up, which in turn ripped that thin metal it’s attached to when I opened the door. Since the sheet metal was ripped where it attaches, I had to weld the new door check to the door. Talk about a huge pain.

The door check can over extend if the door is pushed out hard enough, and then with it damaged when the door is closed it will hit the front window track internally
I had to replace my window regulator, front window track, and the arm that keeps the door from opening too far

Thanks for all the replies everyone, seems like this is the exact issue that other have had before with the wind taking the door too far and in turn bending the door check into the track. I may try to just bend the door track back as a temp fix, but would like to have it totally handled sooner than later.

Although i usually do all my own work, I don't have a ton of experience with door/window parts so I'm hesitant to do it myself. Any thoughts on what the stealership or a independent mechanic would charge for the job??

Not sure. If the door metal itself is damaged like mine was, then probably a lot. If it’s the door check and window track, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was 300 to 400 bucks. Get a quote and see. It really wasn’t very hard to rebend the window track to make it look like the opposite (unbent) one.

The hard part in my case was welding the check to the door where it ripped out. I’d give it a shot if I were you. I bought the new check off Amazon.

No mechanic is going to be able to give you a accurate estimate without getting in there and seeing what's damaged

If its just the check with no other damage and the window rail. Depending on if they've done it before and know the faster way of doing it, probably an hour of shop rate time, and about 150-200 in parts for OE. I would avoid a parts house door check. I believe my rail was 71 bucks with shipping and door check was 70ish as well.

There are so many videos on the internet about doing door parts, so long as you avoid pulling the window its maybe 8 bolts and an hour.

Popped it all open and it's exactly what we thought. No metal damage but the door check pulled through itself and contacts the track every time I shut the door. Door check seems easy to swap but that track seems pretty buried behind there. Do I need to take the window out to swap the track? Either way i'll order parts and make an attempt at it, what a PITA!!

At least on mine (wind took the door), no, I was able to pop the door card off, pull the speaker out. fish the door check out (its just as buried) and then replace the rail going out the speaker hole being sure to get the rubber track liner back in the track carefully.
