    I think technically you will get the best performance from a whip, all other factors being equal. As someone mentioned, Firestick benefits from a spring mount as I have seen them break. Having said that, a Firestick gives sufficient performance for offroading and a spring mount is a fine workaround. I roll with the whip but I'm considering the Firestick option because my whip is attached to my toolbox and I'm thinking of removing the box.

    The Enchantments are wonderful though. If you are going to miss this a hike in the enchantments is a worthy reason to miss it.

    I just put in my permit request for the wonderland trail at the end of August. We will see if i get it or not though since i was firm on my campsites and dates.

    Absolutely, last year we had to do the whole hike in a day, this year we got permits to camp and spend a few nights up and enjoy the breathtaking views.

    Maybe next year I'll do the Wonderland trail, when do you have to have your permit request in for that one? Also maybe in a few years I'd like to do the portion of the Pacific Crest Trail from snoqulamie to stevens, that is an epic hike!
