Recently, I saw a post for another tailgate anti-theft device.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ilgate-anti-tweaker-anti-theft-device.853416/

I thought it was a clever and simple product. And for the asking price, it was a no-brainer purchase to add another level of difficulty for anyone trying to steal my tailgate.

My tailgate has a TRD style spoiler that was from a small batch run. It is also has the Bulletproof Fab storage conversion and holds some accessories. Getting my tailgate stolen would be a triple punch to the gut.

The device is simple in design. It's a metal bracket/tab that is secured in place with existing bolts. The raised edge on the bracket keeps the tailgate cable from being removed. If you cant remove the cable, you cant remove the tailgate.

Tailgate opens and closes without any interference with the device installed.

Contact @MDHoover if you are interested in one for your truck!

Thanks for the shout out! Glad you like your tailgate anti-theft doohickey. I’ve only made passenger side one so far but there’s no reason I can’t to driver side as well. Just sayin. Thanks again!

Got a new Tuffy Lockable Bed Box in a trade. The small gain in storage volume was worth it.. I couldn't justify the JDFab battery relocate bed box so this Tuffy box was a good compromise.

My annual "get-the-f*ck" out of town and leave everything behind trip. Drove into Butte County for the fire lookout and then into Reno for the National Automotive Museum.

Another soul cleanse, self-perseverance trip in the books. Got to meet some cool TW folks to exchange truck goods and chat it up. Thanks @Tour991 @techfinsoup @scocar and nick@martec for taking time out of your day!

"Recharge" is the courteous way to describe these trips! :)

Personally, I think I've become a firmer believer in escapism as the years go by. :annoyed:

I’m all for that, especially if you live in the city. People need a break from everyday life once in a while. Helps to forget about everything and run out to the wilderness for a bit.

Picked up a Kenwood KFC-XP6903C Excelon Series 6"x9" component speaker system to "upgrade" my front staging.

I'm curious to hear how this 3-way set compares to the Eclipse 6x9" 2-way components that are currently installed.

I like how I'll have a true 3" coaxial speaker that will replace the tweeter pod. A while back, the Eclipse 6x9 midranges in the components were replaced by Soundstream 6x9 midbass speakers due to corrosion. Those will be retired too.

The terminals on the old Eclipse SC6900 2-way 6x9 component speaker have seen better days.

Out with the old (Eclipse SC6900) and in with the new (Kenwood KFC-XP6903C)! Replaced the Eclipse 2-way component speakers with the Kenwood 3-way component speakers. The Kenwood components uses a 3.5" co-axial speaker up top which replaced the Eclipse pod tweeter. The Eclipse 6x9 midbass/subwoofers were replaced with the same sized speaker in the Kenwood set.

Installation of the 6x9" speaker went smoothly but that's probably because I'm using the Mr. Marv 6x8->6x9" speaker adapters. The installation of the 3.5" coaxial up top required grinding off some corners on the mounting bracket, spacing it out about 1/4" and then tagging 1x new anchoring point.

...and yes, I think it sounds awesome! I always felt like the Eclipse components were lacking midrange no matter how much I messed with the EQ settings. I don't feel that way anymore.

Old man hearing aides will be in my future. I'm already partially deaf (wife says so) but I do think the vocals sound brighter with these Kenwood components and the music that I listen to.

I participated in the pre-order and took delivery of a Rado Design Adventure Basket. It is a modular rail-mounted low-profile bed basket. I like the idea that the basket can be possibly transferred to non-Tacoma trucks due to the sliding middle section to adjust for width. I also wanted a "shelf" in the bed without the need for a cover or lid. This item crossed all the "Ts" for me so I ordered one even though I have no idea what I plan to store in/on it.

    https://radodesignsco.com/products/adventure-bed-basket

My concern was that this basket needed to be mounted in a way so my Bed Xtender can still flip out and be utilized while also being able to access my spare tire With the 37" tire aired down, I was able to get the Adventure Basket mounted low enough so the top of the basket didn't protrude pass the bedrail too much and my 12.5" wide spare could slide out.

    20250817_170248.jpg 20250817_170312.jpg

i added some "loops" so my cargo net has something to strap to for maximum coverage of the basket when loaded. 20250817_172121.jpg

    Not selective hearing? ;)

Looks like a game of Tetris fitting that big ass spare in the short bed. That basket looks handy and I may have to look into that in the future.

    more like selective "do-ing"! :D

Tetris is a good way to put it! All I need to do is find two slim rotopak-type containers that can slide to each side of my spare tire and also clear the bottom of the adventure basket.

But yes, removing the spare tire has now become a very procedural-specific thing!

After swapping out all the audio speakers recently, I wanted to tweak the settings on my Alpine amplifier and headunit to get the most out of the new Kenwood 3-way front stage and DS18 rear fill. (More on the DS18s later...)

So the Mr. Marv amp rack/subwoofer enclosure had to come out. It weighs a good amount so it's hardly moved and I've never photo journal'ed it......until now.

Amp Rack and Sub Enclosure by @Mr Marv

    20250903_140622.jpg20250903_140733.jpg

The amprack/sub enclosure fits snug in the cavity behind the rear passenger seat. Mr Marv designed the box to utilize as much area there to maximize volume for the sealed subwoofer enclosure.

    20250903_140847.jpg20250903_140653.jpg

Mr. Marv was local to me (90 miles away) so I was able to meet him in person and pick up his creation. Like a lot of bespoke products for our trucks, this box is beautifully crafted and isn't easily obtainable these days.
