I replaced my overhead console's lights with LEDs on my 2016 tacoma, and now when I press the sunroof or traction control buttons the lights come on and the buttons wont do what they're supposed to. Any help is appreciated.

Did you try to put the original bulbs back in?

Now how did those wires get crossed? Pull that assembly out again and check the wiring. Make sure no exposed copper.

Yeah, when i press the sunroof buttons (up/down/open/close) or the traction control buttons nothing happens other than the interior lights (dome and back seat light).

I don't see anything in the assembly that looks crossed or even close to being crossed. I also dont see a way to disassemble the assembly to look at the circuit board.

I don't remember a board when I did mine. I remember all wires from switches leading to a single wiring harness. You can try flexing that while operating those buttons.

Edit: For safety reasons use gloves/pliers/etc to isolate yourself.

I just tried that. The only thing i noticed was that I had the same problem with the main wire harness in, but with the 3 wire harnesses on the back all unplugged. Still nothing makes the buttons do their job or even just not turn the lights on.

Random question: does your truck still lock and unlock? Does the cluster still work as well by indicating door open etc?

I had some weird electrical issues early on owning my truck that needed some Toyota engineers to look at it. My symptoms were the previously mentioned ones.

Did you by chance change the headlights or tail lights too? Sometimes those can also cause a few weird electrical symptoms.

Those switches maybe tied into logic. Dunno for sure. Try disconnecting the main battery for a few and reconnecting. Good luck!

Edit: Boot back up with your original bulbs.

I’ve got the exact same issue. Any resolution to this?

If this doesn't work I would check to see if any of the wiring pins were pulled from their harness while disconnecting. Sometimes they can back out pretty easy when trying to pull those plugs apart.
