Sunroof/moonroof - It looks a lot smaller than I was expecting.

It would be cool if they had an option for a larger one but i guess it's good we get one at all.

Do we know if Toyota is calling it a sunroof or moonroof?

Think they just painted a black spot on roof to represent a sun roof.

    That's what she said?lol

I am glad they offer them. In my '99, they didn't offer them and I had one done aftermarket. It was the old manual flip up style.

They are offering sunroofs.... I doubt they'd paint/decal one on if they're available.

If you want it to open by sliding back into the 'ceiling', it has to have some place to go, yet not lessen roof integrity. So, allowing for some extra structure between it and the windshield, and a bit more on the trailing edge, the most you can have is just under 50% of the remaining space.

Which in your photo appears about right.

My experience with sunroofs/moonroofs tell me that for good ventilation w/o heavy buffeting at speeds, you need rear openings. My sedans worked much nicer than coupes.

On the Tacoma, I don't know if the rear window slider alone will get it done, but it might. On a double cab, no problem as you have rear windows to crack. An access cab I'd have to try.............

Living in AZ, I have no need for a sun roof. Hard enough to keep cool during the summer.
We had one car with a sun roof (not a Toyota). It eventually leaked when it rained. Was a constant problem to keep it sealed.

Never really wanted a sun roof. Just seems like another thing to eventually stop working before the engine itself does.

Sunroofs are played out. They just scream 1990's to me. You lose head room, worthless in most states, more expensive outright to buy, and a major expense if repairs are needed. If I end up deciding on a 3rd gen I will look for a non sunroof truck for sure. Almost as bad as the targa top on my Supra, no thanks.

I've heard rumors the sunroof won't be offered initially. Toyota's website mentions it only for the Limited ("...And Tacoma Limited adds refinement to the ruggedness with embossed leather trim, a moonroof and a Blind Spot Monitor11 with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert."). We've all seen pics that show it in both the DCLB sport and DCSB off road, so it'll be interesting to see what the final deal is. Sure, it's a whole in your roof that's another thing to fail, reduces headroom, add weight or whatever, but they're really nice to have in so cal!

This waiting for any info is pissing me off.
