The transmission cools through the towing pkg cooler and the main rad as well. I have been considering getting a seperate bigger cooler. My fear is if the stock fan already cannot pull enough air through the current setup, I am not sure adding another rad will help me. I think with what you are saying either I will need to get a bigger radiator or possibily move to some performance electric fand that can pull more cfm.
I never tried turning the AC off just because I had other people with me and didn't want to make them suffer. When I would rev it up the air would blow cool but the truck didn't get much cooler. Maybe 5 F give or take some.

I read through the summary of that thread earlier, which is why I planned on cleanjng my radiator out today.

So first off I want to thank everyone for giving me ideas and helping me out. I just got done washing out my radiator from the back. I even unbolted it so I could wssh the back of the AC rad as well. I didn't see any mud come through at all. Some buildup from bugs but from the little amount that came out it leads me to believe this just isn't the problem.

My next thouhts are that I could possibly have a clogged radiator internally. The truck had oink coolant when I got it which looked like the oem stuff, but who knows what's going on in there. I may have to buckle up and try to flush it out. I am also going to get a new cap for the radiator, not likely but it is possible.

When I was cleaning I did notice a lot of dirt was caked on the inside of the fan, not sure if it was making much of a difference but who knows I cleaned it off maybe the fan will spin faster now :D

Just waiting for this water to clear out of the rads and I will fire her up and test the fan with the truck up to temp.

Also forgot to mention this is the thread that made me think there may be a problem, everyone seems to say going over 200 isn't normal. I guess everyone's usage of their trucks can change that though

I have the 3 radiators stacked up like yours too, pulled a 3500lb trailer in 95 degrees with no issues. Your cooling system shouldn't need to be upgraded as long as it's all working right. Did you wash both sides of the radiator? If there's mud on the fan I'd think there's mud in there too. It can get caked in and won't wash out easily.

I washed both sides using a normal spray nozzle on my garden hose. I was spraying for probably 20-25 minutes. Water was clear coming out both ways. I think something is definitely up. I don't have any news paper around to test the fan clutch with the engine running, I'll use tomorrow's paper to try it out. I did also use compressed air before I washed out the rad, and some dirt did come out. Maybe it will make all the difference.. i let it idle in my driveway with the ac on and the temp didn't go above 182.. ambient temp is only 87 though. I swear this truck has a mind of it's own. It's hard knowing if I am fixing the problem too because I need it to be a really hot day for the problem to really show up.

my dad lived down where the weather is always hot and he was a firm believer in having his radiator rodded out every few years.

I am hoping that spraying it out will have helped. I could still see some debris in it that I couldn't get to unless I completely removed the radiator or even the fan+shroud. I didn't do that, just unbolted the shroud to nove it back and also unbolted the top two radiator supports so I could hit the ac condensor from the back.
it was just replaced at 50,147 miles when I installed the supercharger. Went with an oem toyota water pump.

My current plan of action is to test the fan clutch tomorrow with newspaper. On Monday I will get a new radiator cap. Then I am going to look into flushing the radiator with a garden hose to see if there is any buildup or if it's clogged up on the inside.

Other than that I am running out of options short of upgrading my radiator or going to electric fans that can pull more air at idle than the stock fan can do. @Torspd sorry to bug but I would like to know more about your electric fan setup. Do you think it would benefit me in this situation? Especially if I decide to get a larger trans cooler and bypas it from the stock engine rad. I am also looking at the urd oil filter adapter plate so I can run and engine oil cooler. Not sure how necessary it is but I think the peace of mind couldn't hurt.

I'm not sure how good they are but it looks like you can get a new radiator off of ebay for around $150... might deserve some checking into.

Test your inlet and outlet temps on your radiator. Maybe check the flow. Sounds like
Something is fucked. Nobody else that I know of is having these issues. I'm hoping it's something simple like radiator flush. Oh.. don't put garden hose water through your engine lmfao. Only distilled.

I understand it's not ideal, but after I determine if mine is clogged or not I would do a flush and refill with toyota coolant. If it comes to it I will buy a new oem radiator. I'm not really a fan of saving a few bucks to get a knockoff brand from ebay/Amazon. I would rather do it the right way. I wonder if a shop can do a flow test to tell me if it's clogged or not.

Love this. Not a single part on my truck is anything other than OEM (except upgraded: Rigid industries, toytec etc)

Stay in it you'll get it. Then, vids of you shredding with the SC pls.

Living in AZ I put my cooling system to the test during the summer. I see 200°+ on a regular basis. I don't have a force feeder like you, but you might benefit from an upgraded radiator if all else checks out. I don't know if Toyota designed the cooling system for a supercharger AND insane desert heat along with max AC. :bananadead:

If anything I am just glad to hear that it is indeed normal. From some of the posts I read it made me feel like I was alone in running coolant temps over 194 F. I wouldn't mind upgrading if it is actually needed, hell I have upgraded plenty of things that didn't need it so far lol

I got my motor warm earlier and it had the same heavy resistance as when it was cold. Tomorrow I will post a video with a news paper for you to see when it's running at operating temp.

That's when I start crying(inclines). Climbing an incline at highway speed in the middle of the day and I'm picturing my transmission dropping bits of melted gears out of the output shaft. :bananadead:
