So I am currently in Vegas after a 7 hour drive here. When we went to dinner tonight I noticed that my truck sounded different. I have had my super charger on for about 45000 miles. The truck was being more quite but the supercharger had a much larger grinding sound. Tomorrow I might take it to a dealership and see what they think it might be but I figured I might have more luck on the forum. My gf says the truck sounds more like an RC car. I checked the oil today but nothing else yet.

Have you ever changed the gear oil in the nose drive? That is really important.

    Is this on a 3.4 litre, or a 4.0?

Haha okay. Doesnt the air still need to pass through the lobes of the sc to get into the engine? Wouldnt disabling the sc make it impossible to get air to the engine?

Yea its just specifically the noise. I just need to figure out what the noise is and the issue before I can decide if I am able to drive home. I have work in two days so I need to figure out what to do by then.

Yea after we get cleaned up for the day we are going to take a look at it and determine the exact problem.

    Lots baby!
The gear oil is supposed to be good for 100K miles. The oil can be had at a GM dealer. GM has a lot of S/C vehicles. I believe 4 oz is the magic number.

I would be more inclined to think the supercharger belt idler bearing is going bad. This happens pretty often. A screw driver to the ear, may help locate the noise.

The other possibility is there is a spring loaded coupler inside the snout. This couples the pulley to the supercharger. This could be going bad.

    Good Luck.

That sounds like a bad bearing, like the rotors are no longer concentric. Did your boost gauge show a decrease? And if you have exhaust temp gauge you could really tell if the EGT's are lower.
