I noticed a big time improvement in power gains going from the stock exh manifold to a header . I even researched what type of header would work the best for my application

The header I went with which is from Doug Thorley was as Tri Y shorty design were cyl's 1-3 shared a merge collector and cyl's 2-4 shared the other merge collector . This shared cylinder design helps scavenge exhaust out of the cylinder so there's no reversion ( back pressure)

Think of your engine as a gas fed air pump , the more air you can force in then push out you'll make more hp !!

Also a supercharged motor the exh gasses are alot hotter than a NA set up so again a header helps control this by lowering exhaust temps . Another is the header I've got has a high temp nickel coating . This lowers engine compartment temps

I'm running a Magnflow catback and the exh note from my 4cyl sounds like V6

    Here's my Header .....

Damn those are nice. I’m contemplating going with those for my 3.4. Afraid it’ll sound like a tonka truck with a missing wheel. The more I think about it the more I realize the exhaust needs to be opened up. On a side note, is the limit on this motor 350 crank hp?

I'll try and post a video of mine , but the exhaust sounds very nice not raspy !!!!!
    I've heard of built 3.4's making 500hp !!

I have a 95' V6, and I'm wanting to supercharge it. Does anyone know if i can swap in a 97' or 98' ECU? Someone said that each year of Tacoma has a different pin out on the wiring harness, some people have said they don't. I don't know what to believe. I just want to make sure i can or can't do it before i buy one.

My truck is a single cab, would it matter if i got an ECU from an extended cab?

As long as the engine and transmission are the same it should be fine

I remember that...someone found a warehouse with a bunch of 3.4l TRD headers years after they were discontinued and sold them on eBay. I have those headers too, they sound great

@4sevens1792 I don't think 4x4 vs 4x2 would matter as they are separate computers as far as I know, but someone else should confirm that just in case it does make a difference for that ECU you're looking at.

I'm 92.7% sure it doesn't have to be a 4x4 one since the 4wd has its own ECU but I can't say for 100% sure

i believe it makes a difference on push button 4x4 models but i cant confirm that.

Yeah that's a good point, probably be better to source an ecu with the same engine, trans and 4x4/4x2 platform to be safe, unless someone can confirm otherwise

Yeah, I'll still try to find a 4x4 one. I do have the manual 4x4 tho.

Here's a set of Doug Thorley headers for a 3.4 v6 looks to have merge collectors Tri Y design and ceramic coating

    http://www.dougthorleyheaders.com/1...aders-w-y-pipe-(w-external-egr-fitting)_15908

Tri-Y headers are designed to match the synchronization of the engine firing order, thereby maximizing exhaust scavenging. This design creates the optimum torque and greatest horsepower gains in comparison to any other design.
