Any surfers out there? What boards are you throwing in the back of your truck when you surf?

I have a few different shortbaords, a log and a paddleboard but my two boards that always stay in the truck are a 6'1" CI fred rubble and a 6'4" Timpone Fish.

The shell itself is made by 'bel air shells'. They do custom shells out of the longbeach (Westminster) area. The interior is all don't by me, and my trusty jigsaw.

That wave in la jolla somewhere ;)

    la jolla somewhere. soooo blacks?

I get it. not naming the spot. i rarely make it down that way anyways. i'll camp at San Elijo once or twice a year. And when i go visit a buddy in SD while the wives and kids play we'll go surf blacks or scrips or mission beach. I do love SD though. if i could get a job as good as I have in LA i would move down there in a heartbeat.

Not blacks actually. It's a reef that only comes alive When it gets massive.. Not sure it even has a name. I just saw it breaking and Paddled out alone and lucked into a few big ones. I love surfing up there by swamis/pipes/Cardiff. Amazing area.

What is your rack setup like in your truck? it is hard to tell from your picture

What is the longest board you can hold inside the shell like that?

Just 3/4" ply jigsawed out and attached to the bed with angle brackets. It is so sturdy! After the pic was taken I put eyes on the tips of the racks and run bungee cords from the top of the camper to the eyes to keep the boards in. Works perfect!

Max length is like 6'7" for stepup shapes, but less for wider boards

    Aloha -
Surf / live in New York now, but grew up surfing in Hawaii
    Quiver:
    - 6.0 Stretch Super Buzz - lots of volume (41 liters) so makes a good groveler
    - 6.0 Nature Shapes Redux (local Long Island shaper) - two same boards - one rocket tail, one thumb tail - daily drivers
    - 6.2 Tokoro X3 - good / better waves
I find I like surfing about the same size boards, but switching up fins lets me get a lot of range out of this quiver
Each board fits nicely in my DCSB under the tonneau cover (G4 Elite - incredibly AWESOME cover)
Long Island is under-rated for surfing - yeah it ain't Hawaii and this time of year it's cold, but you can drive your truck on the beach until you find a sand bar to surf, aside from late summer / early fall I can always find a good peak with just a handful of friends to surf, and no sharks to worry about (at least no one's died from a shark attack in like 100 years in NY).
    Sorry - no pics
