I'm a level 1 free diver through FFI but i don't dive much. I took the watermans survival course to gain some comfort in heavy situations, and it included the level 1 freedive course. I do occasionally practice my co2 tolerance tables though haha

im pretty envious of that jetski... I take my little zodiac out to some stuff but it's a bit of a hassle, ski would be far superior...

Reminiscing on the days of big surf...I was scrolling through my phone and found some pics of a euro surf trip I went on this winter. I got really lucky with the waves, and wish I took more pics but I was in the water the whole time. my girlfriend seems to have a skill where no matter how big the surf is, she manages to take a pics of it looking knee high.

First pic is of la nord absolutely pumping!
Second of of punta galea on my flight in, lines foreverrr.
Last pic is what the airlines managed to do to one of my boards (after repairs). Bummerrr.

What happens when you get hooked by fisherman on the pier? Do you keep a knife with you just in case?

Awe okay. I'd cut every line near me. Might catch a hook to the eye or something then have a fisherman thinking he got a bite and start ripping on the pole.

Your board got destroyed haha I had the edge of my mini simmons pretty badly dinged up by the airline coming back from hawaii, but in their defense my pack job was hack and it was in a tiny board bag.

Anyone watch the contest last night? i caught a couple heats. wasn't impressed. seems to have gotten better after i fell asleep. but man the lulls were LOOOONG. Any one play Fantasy Surfer? If so, i'll start a clubhouse. I play the old school one though. not the WSL sanctioned crap. http://fantasy.surfer.com/
wonder if they are going to stay at North Point today?

I watched. Was definitely hoping for some more consistency, but there were some gems in there from time to time. Seabass' wave was nuts. I also play old school Fantasy Surfer.

Yeah. Seabass' wave was the only great thing. Glad it was so amazing because the day would have been a wash otherwise. Horrible scoring by the judges left everyone waiting for the best waves and tons of little gems rolled through on the inside unridden.
Main break wasn't much better through rnd 2. Don't know if it was cause the wave or because most the guys in rnd 2 aren't the best. But the 2 hits and one close out float or smash thing got old quick. Over and over and over.

I'm definitely not a fan of Main Break. It's a really boring wave for high performance surfing.

They need to change the way they run the tour. Rather than posting up at a spot for 2 weeks hoping there will be swell, they should just wait for swell and make the call that the contest will be on......like what they do with the big wave tour. Get rid of places like Margarets and Brazil and add a couple of Indo events, switch Bells to Winkipop, and bring back the search contest that changes to a new cool spot every year.

I don't watch the tour, and I can't even pay attention to it for more than 5 minutes even if I do turn a heat on. I'm good with the highlights.

But I know The tour will get a major makeover soon now that the WSL owns a majority of kelly slater wave co. if your a tour fan, get ready to watch the demise of the sport, one chest high pool wave at a time.

I actually think a yearly contest at kelly's wave pool would be really interesting to watch. Level playing field for every competitor.
