Love my sub scorcher II, go to grovel board for me in the summer

Luckily was able to pull out. Still finding sand to this day though The grey Jeep got winched out. The orange Chevy wasn't so lucky

Yeah my kids use it more than I do lol. I've tried the 8.0 Costco board. My brother in law has one. That thing is slow and a serious work out trying to move it around.

Bummer for the Chevy. I wanted to get in for dawn patrol before work but the call of the bed was strong this morning. I have 30 days till my trip and I want to be in the water everyday till then.

No, just paddle for exercise when the waves are small. Keep up the good work! Those races can be brutal.

Always wanted to try a SSII. Is yours the double winged swallow, single wing swallow, or squash?

Double winged swallow. Super fun little guy, like it more than the original Sub Scorcher

That Chevy was my buddies, didn't make it out. If you look a few posts before you'll see my 4Runner pulling out of that mess. No rust problems, my frames nearly spot less. Spend hours underneath with a pressure washer cleaning all that shit out. I also spray it out with water once a month plus recoat my frame two years

Possible but takes hours. I can't tell you how many hours were spent making sure everything was clean after that.

I drive on the beach a lot but no where near the high tide line. It's super convenient to park on the beach and surf out of the vehicle. People can sit under the awning and it's just easy and ideal

For some single wingiliscious bump, Try the CI weirdo ripper. I'm 5'11" and ride it at 5'7". It's a very versatile and rippable board for knee high to a couple feet oh.

Definitely wouldn't mind trying one. So many boards to try....

Is that pic you posted on the first page north of the bay? Looks fun!

What is everyone's thoughts of surfing in or right after rain? I know it's suggested to wait 72 hours but storm's bring swells

I just read a Surfline article on it. There's like a 3% chance of catching an illness while surfing during or within 72 hours. There's a 1.6ish% chance you'll catch an illness while not surfing during or within 72 hours of rain. And there's like a 2% chance while catching an illness while surfing outside of 72 hours of a rain.

Conclusion: your chance of getting an illness while surfing during or within 72 hours of rain isn't significantly higher than if you don't surf.

i used to, but now its a no go. Living in LA the water gets pretty NASTY after a rain. especially because i am near the waste treatment facility and the LA River dumps out right next to me between Playa del rey and Marina del rey.

so its a no go now because 8 out of 10 times i would get sick. not lay in bed sick, but for a solid week i would feel at 25% energy. sore throats, phlegm, headaches. so now the wife said, no more. some of the horror stories ive heard have also made me realize it isn't worth it. i don't wait 72 hours, but at least a solid 1-2days.

To add to my previous post: surfing near drainage outlets such as river jetties or other such areas yield a higher chance of catching an illness.

Yeah. It depends where you live. When I lived in Caribbean there was never an issue. Same with Hawaii. Los Angeles is a different ball game.
