need to learn more about this stuff
they have 2 year warranty on seams. thats why i love them. i think they are super warm. dry fast. and after 2 years, you take it back and they reseal all the tape welds and its like new (but a bit stretchier). best bang for your buck in my opinion.

I wear a ripcurl dawn patrol 3:2 back zip I know it's one of their lower end models but it served me fine even in socal winters. The funny thing is I size so weird if that makes sense lol. I wear an xls (5'9 175bs) and its tight but I was wearing the same size when I was a 155 and even at 155 it fit me just right, I even had to return a large so I think I just have broad shoulders/chest? I tried spoiling myself 2 years ago and got a flash bomb chest zip, returned it right away, I have a thick neck too so I wasnt having any of that

This is what makes me want to get a custom suit. I need the length of a XL and a L is just barely too tight so I need something in between a L and XL. I just size up to an XL and have a little extra in my arm pit area. I was actually hoping to find a Dawn Patrol at the outlet today cuz they usually only run like $110-$150. No luck though so I went with the E Bomb

I get mine on Amazon, it's like $130 new. Hit up the outlet in san Clemente once but xls is a rare size

I love the fit of ripcurls, but the neoprene would give out within 7 months of daily use. Then the seams would give. If it was just the seams then Id have em fixed but whole pannels would unravel.
Yep never again will I buy one.

Haha I meant a new board! But I know there are services that do custom measurements and people get custom wetsuits. I usually get whatever I can find the cheapest, and the guys at frog house are usually cool about hooking it up. The rip curl outlet is great too.

I bought a cheap billabong 3:2 with a gift card from jacks and that thing fit me like it was perfectly cut for my body type (short and stocky) but it wore out really quick. I have an o'neill right now, really flexible, but for some reason the calves are somewhat loose, really weird. I wanted to try need essentials but they were out of my size for a while.

I have a ripcurl 2 mil that I like, kinda tight around the neck and I couldn't get it over my shoulders until it ripped last week, now its perfect lol. Got it for $60 at the ripcurl warehouse sale.

Also I'll never own a velcro suit again, they seal like shit and the velcro eats at the neoprene

Ahh, we were on wetsuits so I figured you meant custom wetsuit haha. Sick! What type of board is it?

Haha I know, I just jumped in out of nowhere but I was stoked. On the topic of wetsuits, if you're in between sizes go try on every brand. I was the same way and stick to certain brands now that fight me right.

Board wise: I was going to get a performance twin shaped by frankie at thread designs (love the boards I have from him) but Ive really missed having a fish from the day I sold some old ones. So Im having dono in San Clemente shape me a twin fin fish, super affordable, they start at $345 and go up from there based on extra glassing, color, fins, etc. I wanted glass on fins but in case I travel soon (hopefully), I went with futures.

I just stick with Ripcurl haha. They're cheap and last me long enough. A little extra room won't hurt anyways. They fit well enough. Maybe my next suit I'll expand my horizons, but that won't be for another year
    Hard pass.

That’s waaaay too high. Mine was $500 6 years ago and that includes shipping it from japan to their rep in San Clemente. Still looks brand new after 5 years of heavy use. Jonesea and coral reef are the two I know of in SoCal that will tailor a high quality, custom suit for a bit cheaper

Must have gotten more inexpensive since last I read into them. I usually just rotate two suits and get 2-3 seasons out of em.

Honestly I think things like instagram are the reason why they're so cheap now. Everybody wants to stand out and be unique so there's a greater demand. My wetsuit makes me look like a ninja turtle lol

When I was surfing SF everyday I defintely needed the hood. Icetoobs are awesome though, and provide plenty of standing room :D Gonna have to make a trip up there this fall.
