I got the racks on my shell that I’ve used for an 8 footer before so I’m not well versed in the over the bed method

I know a lot of people use those dakine pads on the tailgate, I’d say it should be fine as long as it’s strapped down good

I used to put a 9’ longboard in my shortbed, I put it diagonal to minimize overhang though

I just fold/roll a towel and place it under the board (I also have the steel replacement tailgate topper) and then put a towel on top of the board and just use a ratchet strap across and get it snug enough so it's not bouncing around. No buckles or dents on either side of the board.

You don't need a tailgate pad. Just use the towel method and you'll be fine!

Looking for some recommendations on your favorite groveler. It's getting to be that summer mush in Huntington and I need a summer board. Been looking at the Ultra Joe and Rocket Wide from CI. I should be able to demo them next week I think. What else is out there that you guys like riding?
