The water seems to be open for city beaches. Like SC pier, HB people are surfing. State parks, like Trestles, the water is closed. That's my best understanding but the situation keeps changing.

I think I just heard a PA system saying you can’t walk on the boardwalk. Some areas it’s enforced some it’s not. Makes no sense. I haven’t gone surfing in months anyways and I’m too lazy to ride my bike down the 2 miles to go surf in the morning lol.

Found a board in the trash today
Condition not to bad, needs some work on the nose and tail.
I'll fix it up then not sure what i'll do with it.
Haven't rode anything less than 7'10 in years.
    This is a 6'0

Looks like they had a tail pad on the opposite spot you'd want one. That's cool though. They make my first surfboard ever was a Quiet Flight.

Hey guys, happy to find a surf crew on here. Got my first Taco a couple months ago. In the Virginia Beach area, but make frequent trips south. Here's a stab at my quiver if i can remember them all.

    5'6 Lost Puddle Fish
    6'0 HS Hypto Krypto
    6'5 Kim Hickman custom thruster
    6'6 SuperBrand PigDog
8'0 WaveStorm soft top (I do surf VA Beach a lot)

Few other boards that the wife and kids play around on. Also have a 6'6 Catch Surf Skipper Quad on order if FedEx ever decides to deliver it. Needed something for the small/weak VA Beach days that I could lock in the back of my DCLB.

Just got a hypto a couple weeks ago. Board gets a lot of flak but it's super fun.

The Hypto doesn't get Flak. The Brand does due to offshore manufacturing....

Yea I guess. The weird thing is the offshore Haydens are mostly only at local surf shops, while if you order one off their site its Aussie made. To be fair I have a JS hifi that was made it Thailand that's one of the sickest boards I've ever ridden.

Do they ride good if they are made overseas? Sure they do because they are trained to make them to do so. Most people won't get an Aussie made board and ship to the USA. I support US craftsman but to each their own.

There’s a bunch of offshore boards that seem nice, but some not so nice. Most are eps foam and epoxy glass. The foam is its own thing and lots of guys like it. I hate it. But I’ve seen some offshore foams that are legitimately horrible quality (stuff with opaque glass jobs “helium technology”, “timbertek” do great to hide this). Also glassing in epoxy is tougher and it shows sometimes. I’ve seen some truly horrible glass jobs on brands that are considered top notch. I guess this kind of quality doesn’t matter to everyone (board surfs the same more or less) and most probably don’t even notice. Let’s be honest though I’ve seen some bad USA stuff too. Haha

that being said, here’s some new ones for myself I just finished. Some fins too

I have about 15 current boards I ride from the same local shaper. The problem is lately its been taking him 4 to 5 months to get a board to me. I usually try and get 3 to 4 boards a year from him but his time line makes it hard. So in the mean time I gotta find instant gratification. What I like about trying different shapers is that I then take what I like about the board and have my local shaper use it in my next. I feel like most shapers are so set in their own ways they rarely want to introduce new aspects into their bag of tricks. If you take a board like an AL Merrick. They are getting so much feedback from top pros that a local shaper never receive. Iron sharpens iron and I feel like some of the big name brands benefit from all the feedback.

Nice. I grew up in Chesapeake, but live in Hampton now. I've always heard good things about the Wrightsville area, but have never made it down there. I do hit Sandbridge quite a bit. Might be surfing Buckroe this week. :)
