On a trip I took recently I averaged 23.7 on the way there and then 26.4 on the way back. I was going 70 MPH the whole way with cruise on (except when a hill would come along.) The change in elevation was from 3200' to 5500' with crossing the Continental Divide. I never remembered getting more than 18 to 20 MPG on that trip. Anyhow, I was super stoked about getting such great MPG that I had to tell some people that appreciate when there Taco is doing good.

Thanks. Yea it was the 285s. I think the only thing i did differently this time was use the speedo off of the GPS unit. I figured out when I'm going 67 I'm actually going 70. Which helped because I always thought my truck was dead on before but all this time I had been cruisin at 73. Another proof that anything above 70 MPH kills your mileage.

I call BS on your calculations, not on you. (unless you are a 4 banger). Was it over a full tank or over a short distance? Getting 26 mpg over 50 miles isn't unheard of, but over 1 or more full tanks?

Great mileage, I can not get over 20.75 MPG on my 2011 4X4. the avg. is about 20.5 MPG...I hope it gets better as I rack up more miles on it...I only have 15000 miles right now. The 2005 pre-runner got an avg. of 24 MPG

The trip was 165 miles each way. I understand everyone calling BS, because I did too when I saw it on my scangauge. However I wasn't going to complain. It will probably never happen again.

That's the key .... as well as keeping it under 2000 rpms from a stop.

I got lost on your theory. 50 miles or 500 miles, does it matter? Wouldn't you get 26 mpg regardless of the distance as long as your driving habits remain constant?
