    TW!

I was hoping to get some good information on reputable 4x4 shops in the COSprings that can install a few new things I bought for my Taco.

To be exact, here are the parts:
    - Bilstein 6112/5160
    - Camburg UCA w/ MOOG BJs

I currently have the HD Dakar leaf pack in with some shitty rear shocks and stock Billies in the front with a 2" top hat spacer. The truck drives horrible, but I had to stick with this set-up because I bought the truck with 33" tires on them.
I would do the install myself, but I also want to gauge the price range of this type of install (knowing that I'll have to get the front alignment as well). Furthermore, I do not have a jack or stands (although easily procurable), and the fact that the taco is the only form of transportation between my wife and I does not give me too much time to install (unless I piecemeal it).

I am also open to other options, such as getting some help on here.

    Thanks!

Mark your alignment cams and buy a jack, stands, breaker bar and / or impact gun, 1/2" drive socket set and 20-150 lb*ft torque wrench (recommend tekton on Amazon for less that $50), a set of open ended / closed ended combo wrenches, a grease gun, and you'll save yourself money in the long run when it comes time to wrench on the truck for other stuff and gain experience.

Undo the UCA from the spindle and remove UCA. Unbolt lower coilover bolt and then the top (can be done either way if necessary). Then bolt in the new coilover and uca. If you can't get the uca to reach the spindle you can use a bottle jack to push down on the uca or unbolt your LCA and droop it out and use this guide to rough align it to drive to the shop.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-do-an-alignment-at-home.252256/

Measure rough toe easily using this method

Torque specs are all found here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-torque-spec-guide.318116/

Marking the LCA tabs will give you a backtracking plan if for some reason the install hits a hiccup. If there's no dire need to get the suspension installed just take your time and make sure you have all the right size sockets and can get a wrench or socket on all the parts before you remove anything.

I might have to check out 3D Off-Road then. I got a previous quote for $750 to do the rear shocks, front coilovers using the stock top hat, Camburg UCA, and wheel alignment.

Honestly, I wish it were that easy to get back on, but I just got out. Plus i gotta get re-cert for the self shop.

I've honestly been looking to do *most* of the install myself, even though I have never personally messed with anything on the truck. I'm about comfortable with doing the rear shocks and front coilovers. I'll definitely use the bottle jack method to extend the LCA w/out having to touch the cam bolts. If I absolutely need to, I'll just mark the bolts prior to loosening. As for the UCA, I find it to be a bit more of headache to do by myself, although I am always up for the challenge. Considering these are MOOG BJs and not the uniballs, I may be able to get away with not getting a grease gun, unless the bushing areas are outfitted with zerks to press lube into.

Either way, thanks for all the info!

I will be getting the parts by Tuesday night (given that these winter storms don't impede the shipping process).

I am also open to getting physical help from others out there! I am closer to Marksheffel Rd, ha.

That’s alright, you don’t need that stuff to get out and wheel with us. Just bring your already capable Tacoma.

Send it. I'm free after 11am. I'll be getting a jack, stands, and a torque wrench for the job. I already have standard tools, but will be doing more research for specific tools if I need them. I also have been periodically soaking the bolts for easier uninstalling.

If you need a garage to get this job done, you have one. I’m just doing some fab work in the other bay anyway.

I have several sets of jack stands and pretty much whatever tools you need.

I think I might have to cancel. I ended up getting all the tools. Slapped the rear shocks on earlier today. I'll likely get the front coils and UCA on Friday. I appreciate that offer though!

No problem. A man that jumps right in and gets it done!

If you need anything, just shout out. I will be just putting on an aluminum roof and another TW member is coming by to get his King’s looked at. Pretty slow day.

If in the future you need any further help, I have a garage and arrangement of tools, power tools, equipment, etc.. as well. Or if you need a dedicated beer drinking supervisor I can do that too

Just managed to get the coilovers on beautifully without having loosen the LCA cam bolts. Uninstalling the knuckle bolts definitely helped a lot. However, I am having issues trying to shock the spindle out of the b/j bolt to get the UCA free. Any tips? I have already tried shocking it out of place while having the castle nut loosely on the b/j to ensure the UCA doesn't shoot up as fast.

You can heat up the knuckle a bit.

    Use BFH.

    Or use this....

@ColoradoTJ got the spindles out after a few good whacks. Had some rust from coastal SC and GA. Got everything in and greased this morning. I did find out I got seized cans from rust, though. Tried to get an alignment, which is how I found out. Other than that, the parts were super easy to install by myself.

Oh so you have some seized alignment cams huh?

There are some things you can do.

Use kroil or some other penitrating oil for a bit.

Rosebud and put some heat to them would be my first try. I have a rosebud for my oxygen/acetylene setup.

After that, it gets rather spendy to get new alignment cams in. Usually around 600.00.

Were you able to get the alignment close?
