New here as I just picked up an 09 taco trd off road. I'm wanting to do a 3 inch lift and fit 33's under. I would love an icon setup but it a tad bit out of price range for what I want to do with the truck now. I'm planning on doing some mild to medium wheeling with it. Not a crawler but I still want the vehicle to be plenty capable. After doing some digging it seems like the toytec/bilstein kit is favorable here. Can anyone help clarify the difference between the two coilovers between these two kits?

https://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/mobile/3-lift-kit-with-Bilstein-5100-Front-Coilovers_p_364.html

Also what are some opinions on good uca's?
As well as would doing the brake lines be favorable but not necessary? Any good advice or pieces I'm missing with this build is highly appreciated!
Thanks!

You might want to look up OME as well.

The difference in the two "coil overs" you posted are one is a true adjustable coilover, and the other one isn't (Bilstein 5100's are pretty popular here though)

Yes I have been reading the massive thread about the ome vs bilstein. I want a full 3" and don't want to use spacers to achieve that. Do you have experience with either?

And one uses a white eibach coil and the other uses a toytec red coil....I'm assuming it's the same coil off their "boss" kit?

Did you go the spacer route? Seems a lot of people like using them here. My experience is to never use spacers or blocks to achieve a lift....I'm not much for the pavement princesses on blocks. Would rather spend a little more for dependability and durability. What are your experiences on and off road?

Go OME 887s for a full 3". More info can be found here.

Everyone on here likes the toytec lift and Icon lifts. If you wait till cyber monday there are Icon kits for 20% off. Also means toytec lifts will be on sale too. Just an FYI! :)

Right behind you. NY
Vehicle:
18’ F150 SCREW LB 3.5 EcoBoost
Bilstein 5100’s (x4), 275/65/20 Cooper XLT AT3’s
This then no top plate spacer needed.

See my build thread in my signature
If you want Icons just wait and save up the extra and you will be happy you only changed the suspension once instead of doing it twice or 3 times like a lot of people including myseld have done.

My top plate spacer is only .5". Helps achieve full 3" on 885 coils.

The 887's are a bit stiffer to help with added front end weight as well? Currently the truck is stock with no armor, but I would be looking at doing the front plate and sliders.

885s and 887s have the same spring rate. The 887s are just taller. (5mm I think?)

^This. I had Eibach coils on 5100s on my last truck and have a set of Kings in the truck going on tonight for my new one! The Eibachs rode nice, but were a tad rough

Take into account that if you go with the full 3" of lift, regardless of the make, you will in all likelihood need new upper control arms, which are at least another $450. That's why the Icon Stage 3 kit comes with UCA's, and the full OME kit (which does not) is only ~2.5" using the factory recommended coils based upon vehicle weight.

Oh, and I love my OME lift.

Thanks for the clarification on the lengths! I get the feeling it's always been ome vs toytec/bilstein for the lower end lifts lol makes this decision difficult!

So 886's have the higher 656 #/in spring rate, whereas 887's have the lower 558 #/in rate of the 883-885's?

This is from the OME thread:

Spring name/Spring rate (N/mm)/Bar dia/Coil length (mm)

OME 883 / 103 / 17 / 375
OME 884 / 103 / 17 / 385
OME 885 / 103 / 17 / 395
OME 886 / 115 / 18 / 402

103 = 588 #/in
115 = 656 #/in
