that last part is something i been really thinking about. as much as i want to go get rims tires and suspension right away(my suspension feels kinda soft i think it was beat up on fireroads from previous owner) is it better to load it up with all the things i want to do then get the suspension done.. or try my best at calculating all the extra weight and get suspension done first?

OME 886 ain’t bad but I’m liking my Bilstein 6112s with 650lb springs better. They’re a little more $ than OME but not as much as Kings/Fox.

I would say suspension first, only because of what I went through. I started out with a spacer lift kit w/ 33s (yes I know roast away). Looked good but was awful off road. Then I added front and rear bumpers + full skids. With all the extra weight, it was nearly un-rideable on anything more challenging than a fire road. I ordered the suspension once I had everything on, but certain parts were back ordered. I was stuck for nearly 5 months not being able to hit challenging trails I wanted to b/c of the inadequate suspension setup. Once I finally got the Fox kit installed, it was a completely different truck, and I can now bomb through the desert and hit the whoops at speeds I never would have tried before.

Best would be if you could do it all at once, if your budget allows and everything you want is in stock.

I do indeed have experience in this very issue. I had almost the same loading and the issues I described were the result of it. Now with upgraded springs and shocks I no longer have them.

Which issues are you referring to?

I think you’d be good with icon rxt pack with the extra leaf installed. Can go with bilstein 6112 and change the spring depending on the weight in the front. For the back you can do 5160 bilsteins. It really depends on your needs. Fox and kings are very high end. Depending on what you do it could be overkill unless you have a lot of money that you just want to throw at it. This bilstein setup is very popular and very capable both on and off-road.

Here's how I determined load and suspension height. FWIW, Dobinsons are rebuildable and don't have a recommended service interval.

This has all been super helpful. And I appreciate everyone's opinions. Its also entertaining to watch others go at the topic so passionately. Lol. I wanted to make a logical decision based on budget and purpose, not for all the best of the best flashy shit. I want to dump money into my truck for sure, but I'm lucky if I get to do one upgrade a year. Suspension seems like the logical move, considering I want to haul and tow things. This thread is maybe dead by now but thats a whole other topic. Towing.

Want me to start a new thread for that or shall we continue here? Lol I've got some digging to do thru the forums
