    @rockinray
    It can be done . Pretty much you'll need what ever engine you decide to go with along with the complete engine/transmission harness along with the ECU the rest of the stuff will be radiator and miscellaneous hose's and stuff . I would replace engine mounts while the engine is out too

    Really? Just the opposite for me, I feel like I can't get the 4 banger to get any kind of power, especially on the highway.

    I was rootin for ya until I read this post. Because yes, people are quick to assume that everybody on this forum who is considering an engine swap is an idiot who is incapable of processing any potential cost or risk involved.

    BUT

    Since you aren't going to be doing the work yourself, and are so quick to discount the idea of an LS swap, you are probably going to be disappointed with the outcome. First off, LS/ LT are some of the most highly supported engine platforms out there and people swap them all the time with success. Second, depending on where you live, it may be difficult finding a shop that will do the Toyota V8 swap for you without requiring more trips back when things don't work. Sorry dude, but if you want a Toyota V8, buy a Tundra or V8 4Runner. You keep saying that it'll cost you 25-30k to upgrade, but that doesn't sound right to me. If you're patient, you can sell your truck for 10k and buy a tundra of the same year for about 15-20k. You will end up paying much more to have somebody do the swap.

    If you were doin the swap yourself... sure it would be a cool project. I'm all for an engine swap but but to pay somebody to swap in a Toyota V8 sounds to me like an expensive headache. Just my .02, good luck with whatever you decide on!

    Honestly if you don’t intend on doing it yourself forget about it. Theres over 10-15 grand in custom fabrication and wiring to run anything other then what was in there. Nevermind all the new parts you will need. Also if your paying someone and want to keep it Toyota have fun finding aftermarket support... everything is going to be one off customs there are zero kits.. you can get 300 hp for a couple grand with the URD supercharger and small pully. That is the direction i wpuld recommend a tuner shop could do that install in one day

    I knew he wouldn’t be doing the work himself - cause if he had any idea the labor or cost involved he wouldn’t even consider the proposition

    the URD kit is $5k before labor. Being the type to do the work myself, I think I could do a 4.0 swap for cheaper than $5k

    I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you can install a SC kit about 60 hours before you can do an engine/trans swap...
