So after sinking thousands of dollars into my Regular Cab Taco, with lifts tires and more... I guess it's finally time for me to do something with the audio.

First off, I need a decent to top of the line stub antennae. My stock one hits the garage door when parking, and removing it is fine, but forgetting to put it back on is a pain.

Second, I am not worried about being heard a mile away with bass or sound, but I would like a head unit that puts out way more power than the stock.

My question is, would just changing out the HU makes the speakers louder? Also what speakers would be recommended for a reg cab? I don't want a subwoofer, just good door speakers to put out some good sound.

    Thanks!

If it fits (I'm not sure the layout of a second gen dash), consider an Android head unit. I just got the JOYING JY-UL135, as have a couple other folks, and so far it's pretty great (and the price is totally right). I posted my experience so far, including purchase links and pros/cons over here. And, even though the pro/con lists are similar lengths, this is by far my favorite head unit so far...

Did you use stock brackets for mounting the double din? My taco has an aftermarket single din and I'm switching it out for a double din. I can't find any double din brackets online for the truck, so I assume you use the factory hardware?
