Since the dimensions of the truck haven't changed a whole lot, can accessories be freely swapped to the new truck?

    Things like:

    • Bed extender
    • Bed mat
    • Soft-top
    WeatherTech floormats
    • WeatherTech window deflectors

Actually, this is just a list of add-ons to my current truck. :D

    What else could be forward-compatible?

If I say it will - it won't. If I say it won't - it will. So, I'll simply say that you have to spend $1500 on a conversion kit that costs $499 to install, plus an additional $35 transfer fee. Let's see what Murphy's Law can do with that.

I doubt any of the stuff that I make will fit the 3rd gen, but I'll be buying one as soon as they come out so I can measure it up and make 3rd gen versions.

    Oh sorry,

Guess I shouldn't have posted in the 3RD GEN forum for a truck that isn't released yet. What the fuck else do you want to talk about? EVERYTHING about the truck is speculative until later this year. SPECULATING IS ALL WE'RE DOING IN HERE. Maybe we should shut down the 3rd Gen forum until all the old cranks can start buying them.

Besides, I'm curious about the bed accessories because I've heard it reported that the back only grew by an inch. I'd be willing to bet that extra inch comes from the tailgate spoiler.

You're probably right. I was just being mouthy because it was funny, especially after having read all the "why was my thread deleted" stuff.

BTW, I saw an early gen2 with a color-matched Snugtop on the trip home, and I wondered if it would transfer over to the gen3. Then I got distracted by this chick in a Z4.

    From what I've seen no.
The bed looks taller which would make the shell higher in relation to the cab and back window and the tailgate is thicker so the length will be longer.
For these reasons I am buying a 2015 until Snugtop makes shells for the 2016+ and then trading in for the new truck.

If I were to get a G3, I would wish that I could re-install the unbelievably crappy stock speakers and audio unit back in my '10 (sitting in a box for just this purpose) and put the good stuff I bought in the new one. I think the door speakers will be identical, but I would need a new adapter for the head unit/steering wheel controls and trim kit.

I'm wondering if toy will keep the same dirt cheap Chinese junk stereo components in the G3. I bet they pay less than $20 a pair for the paper featherweight junk door speakers in the current gen. The napkin speakers in the headliner are probably a buck apiece. My guess is they keep this same stuff.
