Just installed 30x9.5 tires. Now sway bar link breaks. Any connection?

    5-lugger or 6-lugger? For a 6-lugger, 30x9.5 would be downsizing.

Welcome to TW! New tires won't affect the swaybar, suspension changes do.

Just ditch it and see if you like the difference. Took mine off and never looked back!

"compromise safety" - if his truck is lifted, it allows the suspension to do more of what it is meant to do. don't drive like an asshole and it won't be an issue. nice try though pal

I never noticed the lack of a swaybar on my truck. Drives fine, also you can make up for the lack of a swaybar with stiffer suspension which is what I did.

Incorrect, the sway bar effectively doubles the realized spring rate of the suspension during a turn or evasive maneuver because the sway bar is trying to compress the unloaded wheel's suspension as well. It's definitely a MUCH safer vehicle with the sway bar on.

This is why with an ICON Stage 4 lift and Dakars I keep my sway bar ON unless I'm going offroading. I can absolutely feel the difference and it's significant. The truck is MUCH more predictable.

Nice attempt at being passive aggressive. Try harder next time.

In any event, just trying to make sure the OP has the correct information so he can make his own decisions. Right now my sway bar is off because I've been too lazy to put it back on after my last offroad expedition a few weeks ago. That being said, I drive like it's off. I make sure to not drive like an asshat around turns.

Just curious OP...how many miles on your truck? Sway bar end links breaking are pretty rare. Did you hit something hard and then NEED new tires? Anything significant happen prior to it just breaking?

On my Tacoma I never really felt it or missed it, on my Silverado on the other hand... yeah on the road I could feel the suspension compress tons on hard turns or evasive maneuvers. The Tacoma seems light enough to barely need it unless you are doing Auto-X, road racing or towing.

Nice reasoning  That only applies if you go "off road"
How about if a road debris is on the road and you have to change lanes at the last moment? Been a asshole or not is not going to fix it

Or a kid or deer darts out of no where? Great thinking

I just took off my sway bar...granted Im going LT in the next few weeks so I guess Im not in the same boat. I agree as the others have said, if you drive like an asshat and lose control...well...

It's certainly not the end of the world. I notice it most once I put it back on and I'm like, "Woah, yeah this is way better...". The best way I can describe it is a lack of predictability and almost a falling sensation. When I turn the wheel into a turn the sway bar gets the truck to compose itself almost immediately and then it turns in. Without the sway bar there's almost a brief falling sensation (like leaning back in a chair when you pass the tipping point) where the truck leans and then catches itself before turning in. Kinda like turn in lag. I notice it but some people might not.

There is also a difference between evasive maneuvers and you are fucked. Happens to many of us on here sway bar or not.

I have my swaybar off and in the past 2 months, 2 deer have run out in front of me. In both instances, I had to jerk the wheel significantly. The truck handled fine. It did roll more than it would with the swaybar on, obviously, but I did not roll over and die a fiery death. I would never tell the OP what to do as it's his decision, but some of these comments about the swaybar are over the top.
