Just popped up in my mind as far as reliability is the 3rd gen worth getting my 1st gen has long way to go it’s practically new with 160k miles.

I regret selling my 1st gen, it was like a 1st love but I love my 3rd gen as well. 160k is nothing and with a 3rd gen you'll have payments or be about 40k poorer

Nothing against a nice new 3rd gen, but I've talked to guys with 3rd gens and hear about all their issues with rearends, engine knocking, abs, etc and how it's covered under warranty and the dealership this dealership that. My 1st gen is basic with no power locks, windows, n mirrors, yes it's smaller, may be slower. Now my battery fell over (cuz my dumbass forgot to strap it down) and arced out starting a fire under the hood. Melted the fuse/relay box, all the wire from the firewall to starter, alternator, and injectors. After cleaning that mess up I was able to use electrical tape to wrap each wire individually, start the truck and runs like nothing ever happened. For that reason I will not get rid of my 1st gen.

I’d stick to the 1st gen. Sounds like buying a 3rd gen is like playing Russian roulette.

Would depend on the region and if you inspect before you purchase your good. Hard to see a problem on a new truck till it breaks.
