Any chance any of your previous versions are still around? I think a flatter one might fit in the sunglasses holder like I've got mine mounted.

Wonder if these would fit the in the cubby hole/useless pocket on the third generation to the left of the steering wheel

Great work @Moose1988, I've had my eye on this switch system for awhile now with similar plans in mind. Have you considered using a little filler bondo to smooth out the printed ridges? it's a tad more work but it would net a great finish. Could also find someone with a higher resolution printer to send a batch through. I'll likely jump in line when you're ready to sell.

I would definitely need the check out the cubby first. I'll see if I can gt my hands on a local guys 3rd gen.

    thanks man.

I know the models are a little textured, unfortunately. Filler is an option, but I don't know if I want to get that in depth with these. Not lookin to making this a full time business. Outsourcing is pricey.. then I wouldn't be able to get these to you guys for a good price.

I'm playin with one last one today.. I'll post up and we can get goin from there.

Oh, I'm still in for a "curved" one.

    Nice!

sounds good. I made another change

added curvature going the other direction too. hoping for a completely flush look. I will keep everyone posted.

    Currently have two options:

    Flat Generic mounting bezel
Flush mount for 2nd Gen Automatic console (i will include a template to place the cutout right where it needs to be to make it flush)

I will let you guys know how this last rendition comes out and if we should move forward on it, or scrap the idea of the fully flush version. I'm thinking I'll just add some black RTV underneath, and bam, flush and done.

Fully understand, it's darn tedious. Finishing work would be an end user thing to do anyway, just wanted to throw that out there if anyone wants to get crazy with theirs. Looking forward to work on one but I don't even have the system yet haha.

gonna pick up some filler/primer and paint when I get back to work and try that. but regardless, yeah.. it will be mostly end user to get it where you want it. Ill sand down the edges and natural imperfections from the 3D printer though.

If people want to get really fancy they can try to print them out of other materials on Shapeways or something. I think all the design work you've done is a huge win already!

    definitely.

so, an update.. these changes I've been making to make it sit as flush as possible.. are proving to cause more issues. I'm actually taking some steps backwards now, as well as needing to repaint my shifter console.

Dang, that sucks. Nothing like taking one for the team and having to repaint your console.

lol. not too big of a deal. needed to anyways.. it was wearing down over time. ended up getting some of the plastics adhesive outside of where I wanted it. oh well. I'll do that this weekend since I have to send in my Switchpro anyways.

Switchpro/toytec mounted in cubby on third gens. Yes, it fits perfectly after I saw that picture. This is only succeeding in making my wallet lighter. Going to have to delete my TW account.

    :pout:

yep.. another revision is printing tonight.. will test tomorrow. I think I may be onto something tho. fighting both of the curves on the console is proving to be difficult and is testing my limited knowledge.

I'm hoping it goes smoothly tomorrow, so I can send out my Switchpro EOD to get fixed/replaced Monday, and then sent back to me by mid week next week.

I can loan you my controller if you'd like? Chances are you may have plans other than 3D printing this weekend but if you want to use it I can send it your way.
