Switchpro kit comes with everything you need depending on where you want to instal it. For example I didn't need anything since I originally installed it on my OEM fuse box cover. Then my brother decided to build a mounting plate for it which happened to have pre tapped holes for a Bluesea terminal bar. This terminal bar is not needed at all but makes it much easier to remove and add your equipment.

As for the Bluetooth function it works from inside my house so the distance I would estimate to be around 30'. The will differ depending on interference and such. My only complaint about the Bluetooth is if you are turning things on via the app it will automatically turn off the applicable switch once you exit the app or the phone turns off. FYI I have an iPhone so it may be different for those operating Android devices.

    Thanks for this feedback.

Are you saying that if I turn on the app to turn on a light it will switch that light off if I exit the app or turn off my phone? Or only if I completely shut down the app completely and/or shut down my phone? There's a bit of a difference.

My experience has led me to your first scenario but should also be true for your second as well. Every time I exit the app or just hit the power button on my iPhone the device I have connected will turn off. Not sure if this is a safety feature or a software issue Switchpro is going to fix in the future. I haven't complained to Switchpro about this yet but I'm sure they are aware of it.

I believe that's a setting.. or maybe a wiring change.. I cant remember. I do remember that being a issue tho when I was installing and setting it up. I havent used the BT since then so Im drawing a blank. I will look into it.

What's gotta be done to remove console to cut it for the switch pro and your handy mount?

This would be a major bummer if there isn't a way around it. I know a lot of you guy don't care much about the BT capabilities, but I'm pretty certain that I (and definitely the lady) would be using it quite often. But if I have to keep my phone out of my pocket and turned on every time I wanna turn on lights that'd be fucking stupid. I've email switch-pros... we'll see what they say... @XPOTRPR let me know what you find out if anything.

A interim solution would be to use a larger device like an iPad which has a long battery life and set it to not automatically shutoff and it should work. Just a thought!

Haha, true... but I'm not really into the idea of bringing an ipad camping...

    Hopefully there is a work-around.

Just following up on this discussion. I contacted Switch Pros about this concern... I'm basically just trying to make sure that if an accessory (that is controlled by the SwitchPro system) is turned on using the app, does it automatically turn off when an iphone is put to sleep (power button hit to hide screen display)? It would seem a little pointless to me to use the blue tooth app to operate the systems if you are required to keep your phone lit up (and wasting battery life) the entire time you need to use an accessory such as lighting.

After exchanging few phone calls and emails, Simply put, "THEY DONT KNOW"...

This concerns me quite a bit. How does this company not know the answer to this question? They said they would have to do some testing and get back to me. Surely, I'm not the only person who has brought this up to them, right? I'm crossing my fingers that some of the issues that have been discussed about this previously in this thread, have been resolved. I already assumed that the blue tooth connectivity would produce a functional range of more than 40 feet, but that's not the case. I can live with that. But if this mobile app scenario turns out to be true, I doubt I'll pull the trigger on Switch Pros, save a little extra money, and go with SPOD's new system instead.

thats really just minutia at that point imo. are you ONLY going to use the BT feature? how often do you need to use it?

I can check when I get home.. but I have android. I'm sure it will work the same regardless of platform tho.

Are you using your truck for Rave lighting?

Granted we are in Mountains so no one really even carries their phones when camping, it might as well be a brick out here.

BT will work regardless.. but I'm with you. I would prefer no phones at all when we go out.. but I need the camera. I just turn it to Airplane mode and the battery lasts the entire trip with no service draining it.

Its not minutia if you are using BT... and why have BT capabilities on your product if it's not conveniently usable - thats the point of BT to begin with, right? I mean, unless your using it to control a party light rave scene like Steve mentioned which hopefully non of us are needing to worry about unless we are tailgating at a football game, maybe!

Obviously the BT isn't necessary for when you are inside the truck. I therefore won't need it most of the time. I see it for practical use when you are not actually in the cab, behind the wheel.

Example 1: Camping... middle of the night in RTT, You need to go to the bathroom... Pick up phone, turn on rock/camp lights... Go to bathroom, climb back into RTT... turn off lights... No hassle. * (probably the more realistic example since I would more likely have my phone with me in the tent, than any other time during a camp)

Example 2: I'm cooking, I have the cargo lights on to see the stove, food, etc... I have my hands full of food when I'm walking over to the campfire. I sit down, pull out phone and turn off the cargo lights, no need to walk back. Again, no hassle.

Excuse me if this sounds like I'm lazy or the ultimate glamper, I'm not, but again, if a product has the BT capabilities and they are convenient to use, why not use em?

I'll add one more example... that many of you wouldn't think of but us AZ guys have to worry about...

Example 3: Your on a trip near the Mexican border. You've gone to bed and hear what sounds like footsteps outside. Using BT you can turn on the lights that shine outward from your vehicle to illuminate the surrounding area and see if anyone is sneaking up on you before they even see where you are.

I've had multiple run-ins with illegal migrant traffic on trips to the BMG Range.

I'm all for convenience.. but the BT does work.. just not exactly how you want it, maybe.

those examples are good ones, but I always have a flashlight.. or.. just use my other RTT lights.. or my phone itself, because.. it does turn your lights on and off.

IDK.. all I'm saying is dont let that one little thing deter you from the Switch-Pro. the other pros it has should be more than enough to make up for that. but.. in the end.. its not my money. :)

Good point... I hear what you are saying... and you are probably right to assume that in most cases the use of BT technology would probably be just as cumbersome as carrying a flashlight. Of course, the SwitchPro system has plenty of other pros. I'm just playing devils advocate here cause it seems like forums are the perfect place to share thoughts about products, good or bad, minute or major...

totally understandable man. I usually beat a product to death researching it for weeks and weeks before pulling the trigger. Devils Advocate for sure.

need to just meet up so you can check it out. It has been very useful tho, and I havent even thought about the BT since I installed it tbh.

When i get my setup i would likely use an older cheap smartphone for the BT, I have an old moto x laying around, but you can pick up a phone similar for 20$ or so.this would stay mounted and plugged in when in the truck. And it could be used remotely when camping. The batteries running out and turning off the accessories would be unlikely in my case.
