Skip the wire harness. BD does include a plug. Just need to crimp 3 wires.

Scroll down to the custom harness

awesome, yea i've read his installation several times and definitely missed that step by step on the BD harness. Is 14-16 gauge wire typically what is used for these applications with lights or auto wiring accessories?

No need for wiring harness. The relay, fuse, etc., on the harness is not needed when connecting to the SP. I have the BD S8-20, took the harness off and went directly to the leads coming from the light (crimped, soldered, and heat shrinked of course). I did not connect my amber backlights though, as I just simply can't see a need or a want for them. They got turned on once when I bought it just to verify they worked (when I was still using the factory harness) and were never turned on again. If those are important to you, you'd need to take up another terminal and switch on the SP, or wire to a separate switch.

As for horizontal vs. vertical, I'm taking my chances with horizontal. Plenty of people running that way with only one issue I'm aware of in which the horizontal mounting could possibly, maybe of been a contributing factor. I did pull the bushing tail cap pieces back on the factory female connectors, and filled them with silicone, then pushing the back piece back down and clicking into the connector. Just a small extra level of protection.

Smeared a tiny dab of grease around the o-ring inside the connectors, and lightly greased terminals inside connectors. I'll pull every once in a while to make sure there don't appear to be any issues creeping up. I have pressure washed my engine compartment twice now, and everything checked out just fine (though I did not get rough with direct pressure from the washer). Should I ever locate moisture in there, a little spray of a water displacement lubricant should do the trick. I check inside the connectors as part of my monthly or so "peek under the hood and check everything out" checks.

Has anyone used the backup lamp # 2 to trigger the reverse lights? I couldn't find a clear answer in here. I would rather not tap into a wire as my colors in the plug are different.

@SAPR53 I'm not going to. There was an interference issue with my truck, 2018 4x4 dcsb ORMT. There are pics a couple posts back, it wasn't going to fit like I imagined in my head.

For a 40” S8 you should run 12ga. It draws 16 amps so 14-16 will be too small.

Blue ignition is wired to EFI NO.4

Any suggestions to wire it some place else would be helpful

Redid all the wiring for the ignition wire and moved the fuse tap to INJ and still no light. Really starting to think it is my module at this point.

Installed the Power Tray and did some cleaning up for the wiring.....

Still a work in progress but for the folks that want to know where the "arm" goes.....on the passenger side of the Power Tray....it fits in easily.

BTW I took at the powertrays website and found the first screen to be invaluable! Thanks Maverick!

If I don’t plan on using the pink wire can I just put heat shrink at the end to cover it up or do I need a closed end connector?

    That’s fine

I didn’t hook mine up for a long time but finally hooked it to the high beams. Wish I would have done that a long time ago

Nutz...for some reason I may have a short..

I can’t find what the led lights on the switch pro itself does. None are illuminated and I saw them all flash three times briefly...guess I’ll call in the AM if someone doesn’t have a better idea. Thanks

Edit: seems to be working now. Started and stopped the truck twice and that seemed to do the trick...now tomorrow I have to set up lights and figure out the app.

Is anyone else having trouble with the app? It seems like mine will lose its pairing or something. It will just go to a black screen after about 30 seconds. Last time it did it I disconnected the unit and it fixed it for a few days. Now it is doing it again. Not really excited to disconnect the battery everytime I want to change a setting. Using an android if that matters.

Mine freaks out from time to time. Usually closing the app and power cycling the truck takes care of it.

@Shellshock I have tried every combination of cycling stuff I can think of, turning off BT on the head unit included, uninstall and reinstall the app, and all that. Disconnecting the battery seems to be the only fix for mine and it only seems to last a day or so. Feeling pretty frustrated about it.

Have you done a factory reset on the unit?

The one I have in my tundra was working find until I came back from a 2500 mile trip then my trigger stopped working and my lights wouldn’t turn on. I removed the battery for a week or so and attached my positive lead differently (I have the SDHQ terminal blocks). After that it seems to be working perfectly.

I’ve also noticed that these units are very particular about being wired exactly as specified in the manual. I disconnected the ground one time and mine went crazy (I was grounded to the body). Per the manual you should have it connected to the negative battery terminal, which mine is now.

I'm running the sdhq terminal blocks also and both pos and neg terminate on them. I'm going to tinker with it this afternoon before I head out. Not sure how to do a factory reset without access to the app. trying to resurrect an old iphone 5 to see if it can run the app but the IOS is way out of date on it.
