I recently installed at Cali Raised 31.5" LED bumper light bar. The installation of the light itself when smooth however, I'm having some trouble with the switch wiring.

I used the provided wiring harness and relay. I also "upgraded" to the OEM "bumper light bar switch" that fits in the factory blank. I spliced all the wires according to their instructions, however the switch always remains lit, even when the truck is off.

The switch itself works fine and turns the light bar off and on as it should. I'm just having trouble trying to figure out why the switch is always lit, as this will drain my battery. I included a diagram below of what I've done so far. I figured the switch would light along with the headlights or DRL just as everything else does in the truck. Can anyone help me out with this please?

The wire for the light on the switch needs to be hooked to one of the wires going to a light on the dash that turns on when your parking or headlights are on.

Like the wire that turns on the lights for the A/C etc.

What do you have red 2 connected to?

Please see my wiring diagram. I have the red closest to the green wire connected to the red from the relay. The second red (closest to the black) goes to the "add-a-circuit". The green wire is connected to the white wire from the relay and black to black. The red and black wires from the relay go to the positive terminal of the battery and ground.

It's the add a fuse lighting it up. You need the red 2 hooked to a dash light wire not to the fuse block.

Move the add a fuse one space to the left.

If I completely take the add a circuit out of the fuse box the switch still stays lit and works the bar

You need to find aux power ... for the switch light itself. Right now you have cont power which will never turn off .. get a light probe from auto parts only a few dollars and find it by playing with your lights. The bulb will light up when you find it and turn off when its off tha just tag into that

The green wire is connected to the white wire from the relay. The relay goes to the bar, a black and red to the battery, and the another red, white and black that go into the truck for the switch

Just experiment, I've had mixed luck with mic tuning switches, but as long as the black is hooked up correctly, you can horse around with the green and reds usually without penalty until you find the right combo. I did, truck hasn't blown up yet.

it doesn't matter where I plug in the tap the switch always has power from the battery even with the truck off. Do I have the red and black from the relay hooked up wrong, should it even be hooked up to the battery. I hate electrical....

I think I have green and red 2 together. Then red one goes to switch leg of my relay. I have my relay comming out of my aux fuse panel. The switch should not draw much power so if I remember right that's why I did it like that. All of your current will be on the relay.

Green wire should go to a fuse that has power when the key is on. Black to a ground under the dash (I use the fuse panel mounting stud). Red 1 goes to 85 on the relay. Red 2, can go to an ign powered fuse or to a wire that gets power from the lighting circuit (I found that wire on one of the unused plugs hooked to a switch blank).
I haven't looked at the harness that is sold with the lights. @CaliRaisedLed, please chime in on any differences with the harnesses from a basic wiring setup.
I have 3 CH4x4 switches wired with relays how the above pictures shown. All 3 work exactly as they should. Only difference is my horn switch which has the factory horn circuit going to 30, 87A goes to 12v horns, and 87 goes to my air horns. Switch controls which horn will activate when I hit the horn.

I did a drawing for someone a while back for a different switch but it may be helpful for you. Let me see if I can find it. It has everything for a light bar drawn out. You should be able to tell what needs to go where just leave out the double wire for the other switch.

8 is the black wire on your switch

    2 is your green wire

    3 is (red 1)

    6 is (red 2)

The dash light switch can go to any light that is triggered by headlight switch. He was mounting his in the center console was the reason for labeling it like that.

Disregard the blue sea relay. The wire going to blue sea will go to your power point under the hood.

Ignore my typo on switch too. lol
