    How much was the truck? 30-40 grand? So your bitching about spending a few extra dollars on Synthetic oil which will prolong engine life and protect your investment.

    Its actually cheaper to do a synthetic oil change once every 10k versus any other method dyno/ syn blend at a shorter interval.

    Seems like a no brainer to me, stop being cheap.

    nice if the drain plug/hole is on the side . Too bad the Tacoma's is on the bottom , leaving that valve exposed to being easily broken off.

    Mine has plenty of clearance. If you offroad a ton I probably wouldn't recommend getting one but otherwise these are awesome.

    I have used motor oils thinner than Toyota Genuine Motor Oil for 150,000 miles.

    I have had conducted numerous Used Oil Analysis procedures.

    My 2005 2TR FE started comsuming oil at 250k miles.

    Every Prius taxi cab has oil consumption problems, run predominantly on TGMO with a 10k mile OCI.

    10k mile OCI + high dosage viscosity index improvers are the culprits.

    TEOST Test Guy is getting warm.

    Screw it...only use Red Line 0W20...or your engine will explode.

    Be careful in using conventional oil, it will void your warranty. You can use 5w-20 as a temp, but Toyota says to change it as soon as possible to full synthetic. The cost of oil is cheap maintence

    How will the warranty department know the difference between 5w-30 conventional and 0w-20?

    If it's full of oil they aren't doing CSI analysis of the oil.

    It doesn't say it anywhere. If your engine fails due to sludge or any other oil related problem, Toyota will spend the $$ to have your oil tested. If they find a viscosity over xW-20, you'll be footing the bill.

    No dino oil comes in xW-20.

    Even cheaper for them, they'll ask for your receipts and if you cant produce them, or you can and they indicate wrong viscosity . . .it might just give them an out.

    Is dino a blend of synthetic and conventional?
    So for sure 0w-20 only comes in Synthetic?
    Just don't understand why Toyota did not specifically say "Synthetic" in the manual

    Dino is conventional, straight up. No blend. It has become pretty expensive compared to what it used to be. Within $1/qt of synthetic. I remember the days when a good qt of conventional was $1.00.

    It's an assumption. To me, it is like seltzer having CO2 in it and tonic water has sugar and quinine. xW-20 is full synthetic. I definitely wouldn't want a dino oil that thin. At that point, it'd be just as good to dumping olive oil in the motor. It's gonna cook.

    Toyota also specs the same oil for every taco from Alaska to Arizona. Considering there is 150 degrees difference between the daily high and low of these places, there has to be wiggle room for viscosity. I would think in the heat of the Arizona summer, towing a travel trailer, I would want to run 0w-40

    I have read that older motors like Zinc and that synthetic oils do not contain zinc. I run synth in my newer vehicles and conventional in my 73 BMW with more than 200k on the clock
