That's pretty much the only spot on the sails that can be used . The sail attaches to the door with 3 clips , and between those 3 clips is the only place you can drill a hole big enough for the tweeter

solid gear choice and solid installer.

Im running the stock head unit into my Psix DSP MK2 and it's fine.
I don't think you will feel the need to upgrade, and before I upgrade, I would just run an AMAS.

I agree , the stock HU is fine but it has its issues, the CD player is fine but using the USB input as a source sucks as it only reads compressed files and I'm not into carrying a box of CD's in the truck , an upgraded HU will allow me to have my music in FLAC or WAV files , 3 channel output and also have a lower floor noise .
The install went fine, the installer did a nice job building the adapters/sub box/amp rack , wiring everything and setting the gains but I'm pretty much on my own regarding the tuning of the DPS

Stock headunit will likely have less floor noise than something aftermarketing - You are running high level....
My stock radio has 0 noise. It puts out a very clean, flat signal.

    I like it a lot.
I came from Mosconi AS Amps with tons of power with an H800.
My last build was insane, and this time I was going for simple and somewhat practical. I think the DSP MK2 is awesome in that regard.
The small form factor for the amount of power it is putting out is pretty awesome, especially considering its a 6 Channel amp + DSP.
I am not missing any power (As of yet), and the tuning capabilities are the best on the market.

Marv built my box and we talked audio for a while. He said he was thinking of running it on his own truck.... I recommend it to him as well.

Have you ever owned a DSP Before?

No I haven't. But after talking to Marv, He has me believing that even a "non tuner like me can work with Helix software! He supplied the speakers, amp, and built the box for my last truck.

Drove out to Tahoe with the family for a few days and got a chance to listen to the system for an extended period and it sounds pretty damn good after some tuning but want to change a few things so I got a new Excellon DNX994S head unit on the way to start with.
    It'll allow me to;
    1-Play hi resolution files
    2-better Garmin navigation
3-6 channels pre out so I can use all six channels input in the processor as opposed to getting all my signals from the 2 front channels in the stock head unit
4-gain a front camera for when I go wheeling

I've been eyeballing that HU as well, but now I have to hold off because WIRELESS Android Auto was just announced by JVCKENDWOOD this week (for release sometime in early 2018). :yay: We will supposedly find out more at CES

Looks like Kenwood is coming out with a slew of new HU's this year. 3 of them will have hi-res audio and the wireless Android Auto (DNX995S, DDX9905S, and DMX905S)...those 1st two are now part of the new "reference series" which is above the eXcelon line! :headbang:

    https://www.ceoutlook.com/2018/01/09/kenwood-launches-premium-sub-brand/

No Pricing yet. Too bad they won't be released until March.

EDIT: Looks like they have a couple more that have the wireless Android Auto too (DDX9705S, DNX875S), but slightly less powerful internals and a lower res screen.
