Easier cause you don't have as much of the computer systems.

I wanted to convert my 2005 to manual but the ECU wouldn't let me run my mother fucking truck (I love how this site lets us swear)

thanks for the info guys, did the 3rd gen v6's have auto tranny issues?
dad said that the tranny is slipping and shifting funny, but it doesn't do it all the time, it also has 290,xxx miles on it.

They have issues with the radiator leaking and coolant mixing with the tranny fluid, called Pink Milkshake... will completely ruin your tranny. Solution is buy a new radiator and/or add an external tranny cooler.

You might want to check your dad's transmission fluid... post a pic for us.

Check trans fluid. Might be contaminated. If not, rebuild or replace. That motor is just being broken in!

i checked it the other day, it was light red, but when i wiped the stick on the paper towel it was pinkish, it was also above the hot mark when the tranny was cold.

    i'll go take a picture for y'all

haha.. I joined YT a good while back. July of '09 to be exact. That site is what started my 4Runner's journey but I blame T4R.org most for prolonging the path.

YT started going ape shit with handing out infractions for stupid reasons and it turned me away. I joined T4R.org some time in 2010. I also branched out to TTORA and got acquainted with my local chapter.

I wish I could get my truck out to the west coast but it's just too far of a drive for this unpractical gas guzzler. I really want to get it to Colorado though. I will soon enough.

Hard to tell from the pic. Maybe someone else can chime in and give their opinion. Your dad's truck is showing symptoms but I'm no expert. I'd definitely address it though, new radiator. Koyo makes a good one. As for an external tranny cooler, look into a B&M 70264.

i'll keep a eye on coolant levels, and we're gonna change the tranny fluid sometime soon, so we'll know then.

    it is pretty simple right?
i'll see if i can find a writeup.

Yeah tranny cooler install is real easy, and the cooler is only like $60. There's a couple real good write ups on t4r.org but ohhhhh waaiiiit. lol
